Recognizing this to be the fact, officials of the Fair are now directing their energies toward the pro duction of a suitable display of the state's resources. Active work is already under way, and by Christmas time, or possibly before, several cars of exhibits will b in readineps for shipment. V. II. WehriiPfif, of Ilillsboro, who has charge of the work of gettingthe ex hibit together, rpached the city yester day for the purpose of consulting with President Myers, of the State Comniis sion, preparatory to taking tne neld in active collection of the exhibits. Mr, Wehrung says he will make trips through the different counties in the interests of the exhibit, having learned by experi ence 'hat liitlf can be accomplished throug the medium of the mails. He will call upon the different county courts and the commercial organizations of the state for substantial aid. In accordance with an act of the late Legislature, each of the county courts is authorized to make appropriations, not to exceed $1000, for the purpose of ad vertising the county's resources, and it s the intention of Mr. Wehrung to seek these appropriations in the interest of the state exhibit. Such of the exhibi- r i . ... .tuna aa are in m conumon win oe re turned to Oregon for use at the Lewis and Clark Fair. 0e of the features, if not the feature, of the exhibit will be the products Oregon's wonderful forests. Already much has been done toward getting to gether suitable collections of woods, al though Superintendent Wehrung states that there is yet much to be done to bring the exhibit up to the highest Stan dard. Another feature will be the fruits and $15114 2l garden products. In this connection President Myers said yesterday that during his recent trip, in company with Superintendent Wehrung, to St. Louis tie learned that many of the states al ready have their orchard and garden products at the St. Louis cold-storBge 8 HOI warehouses in rnailinpsa fnr ilio otIiII.Ii "We have no time to lose," 6a d Mr. Myers yesterday.
