Those who believe that the principles and policies of the re publican party are the best for the country have as many and as good reasons as heretofore for desiring the continuation of that party in power. Indeed, since the democratic party has done nothing, and evidently is unable to do anything to remove the just and deep distrust with which lihj yeujjie xcKa.iu iu, v., on the other hand, the republican party has shown ana is aa:iy demonstrating that it is vigor- ous, healthful, alert, earnest and progressive as ever neretoiore, the same cogent reasons exist which for many years have existed why it should be contin- ued in power, auz maaaiuonto aiiimsrt- -r , 1 Jli? He is in every way entitled to the earnest support of all repub licans, and: deserves that of : all good citizens. We- predict his election by a vote many hundred in excess of the usual republican vote. HIS APPOINTMENTS. A plutocratic publication issued at Portland instances Governor Chamberlain's appointments as strong reasons why ' he finds staunch support outside of the party. He appointed Judge Harris to the additional judge ship in this district because Judge Hamilton is a democrat. He filled a vacancy on the su preme bench by appointing a democrat because the two other judges are republicans. It is probable he appointed a democrat to the U. S. senate be cause the other senator is a re publican. The Governor knows that one of the most senseless and ground less "scares" is the fear that our Judiciary is in any danger whatever of becoming partisan. He knows, too, that in this district are eminently well quali fied democratic lawyers, who, because of their long party ser vice, supplemented by their fit ness, should have received the compliment of appointment. If he does not know, he is like ly to learn, ere long, that he would assuredly have gained more friends and also more cer tainly retained those he had by appointing a democrat to the judgeship and a republican to the senatorsnip. ne governor is not the first actor- who has mad, the mistake of playing to the galleries when he would better have kept in his lines. vyre rejoice m the appointment 0i Judge Harris and merely mention the matter to' show the Governor's politics RrPMCLICAN PLATFORM issues of the Campaign are now Sent Forth The Republican State central Com mlttee at -18 se88,oa last week "pp"' 1 PllKnrl nil tst J r-rt IT l- it rvln f fnctn du irwuiu i ncc yj iv a uiaiu uj 0f issuea and principles endorsed. In the early sixties it was usually the duty of a practicing physician to ride many miles every day on his regular round of visits upon nts patients. ; In those days a young man who had received a splendid medical training in one of the best medical colleges of that day was ac customed to ride ten, twenty, thirty miles or "more visiting: the sick and afflicted. His success was soon phenomenal. Doc tors and families cadled htm for consulta tion to towns at considerable distances by rail. His specialty was the cure of those common and distressing diseases of women, lie had early discovered that by combining the extracts of the follow ing medicinal plants, in just the right proportion, without the use of alcohol nis "Prescription" almost invariably cured such cases. Later, in order to place this remedy before the public in a shape easily to be procured, he established a labo ratory at Buffalo, N. Y., where regu larly qualified chemists were put in charge to accurately prepare his "Pre scription" and put it in shape for ship ment to all parts of the worlds This remedy, which he named Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription is not a-"patent medicine" but a tonic and nervine for women, and a regular physician's pre scription, and contains the following in gredients : Lady's Slipper root, Black If You Have Painting to doit will pay you to look into the merits of Kinloch Paint.
