Recorder of The City of Pendletoa le Co. EAST OREGONIAN, PENDLETON, OREGON, MONDAY. SEVERE WEAKNESS PORTLAND. July 2:1. Practically a record run nf entile in the North Portland yarila on Monday forced one of the greatest price relictions known for an extunded period on the local market durinK the week. The run on Monday alone totaled lll head while totals for the week vera 2139 head compared with 1464 head lam wek. A year ago there was pt III a greater run for the week than the prent-nt period-. with a total of 2522 head but at that time the market ncted exactly like the present one. Values not only showed severe losses on Monday but continued to weaken snd decline durinK -the re malnder of the week when of ferine were but moderate. Then- is nut sidestepping- the situa tion in this cattle trude at this time. Too many cattle have been held back by deferred Kood weather and morty has come forward In a bunch than uaual. This coupled wllh the fact that killers are showing only a very limited amount of dressed beef busi n together with the overflowing of their feedlots. naturally causes a lack of appreciation for .-idditUinal sup plies. Will 'ane Shortage Ijiter. While the Immediate outlook for cuttle marketing nt North Portland and in fact all nlonu the coast is not of a very favorable nature, still the situation so far us the future is con cerned Is highly profitable to ship pers and feeders. Too much stock has Wen rtixhed upon the market of late and a very large per cent of it was not properly fed. This means . , . , .. 1. . rtt reed UIHl murii niuo ......... .... . should have been kept for a later period.
