Dated July 17. 1917. 7-24 SILVERWARE THIEF CAUGHT IN PORTLAND Goods Stolen From Grip of Traveling Man at Hotel Pendleton Restored. The man who stole silverware from the grips of nil M. Sellers & Co. trav eling man at the Hotel Pendleton sample room.- early in July, has been apprehended in Portland and has re stored the stolen goods. He gave the tiamn of H. Arthur Kyecrnft and claims to be a veteran of the Roer war. The Journal this morning tells of his arrest as follows: He was arrested on Friday. July IS. by ivtectives Leonard and Snow and held for investigation. Saturday h.t confessed to having stolen at Pendl.a. ton several hundred dollars' worth of silver and toilet articles from a sample trunk belonging to M. Seller & Co. of Portland. The detectives told the man that if he would tell them where the stol en stuff was they would let him go. :nd Pundav he matte good on the teal and turned over the stuff to the officers.
