Mrs. Warren Is now living In Dudley, Ida ho and an effort was made to secure her attendance at the local memor ial meeting for her deceased parents. She could not come but wrote a very Interesting letter. She was 10 years old at the time of the massacre. In all of the other Presbyterian churches of Oregon similar services will be held tomorrow, the day hav ing been set aside for that purpose by the synod. Governor West, in his message to the legisla ture will recommend the repeal of all appropriations but those for educa tional purposes, according to an an nouncement just Issued. He opposes them, he says, because they are not pruned by legislatures, as are appro priations maJe every two years, and, further, because the legislature In making appropriations for certain de partments falls to take note of the continuing appropriations. He, how ever, thinks the continuing appro priations should remain. U. S. MUST ACCEPT COLOMBIA'S VERSION WASHINGTON, Nov. 28 Secre tary of State Rryan refused to dis cuss European protests against alleg ed breaches of neutrality by Colombia and I'ollvla. It was understood, how ever, the state department takes the position that as Colombia has denied the charge that German manned wire less stations were permitted to operate unscrutlnlzed, the United States must accept Colombia's word unquestioned. Three long tables were ar-igH ranged, around which 78 persons 15 could be aeuted at a time. A large j crowd attended. The young ladies of Adams acted as waitresses. He Is also putting a new fence around his house, making the yard smaller. One gift to Adams this week was the visit of Buster Brown and his dog Tlge. Buster Brown and TIge per formed at the Inland Mercantile Tues day evening. A large crowd was present to hear what Buster had to say. Dave Stone motored to Adams Tues. day to see Buster Brown. Schlmpff. president of the North Pa cific Brewing company, has announc ed that the local brewing plant will be closed the first of the year. Mr. Schlmpff says that nothing can be gained by operating for Just another year, until statewide prohibition be comes effective, and that he has de sided to quit now so that he will have so much more time to look about for another location. Mr Schlmpff gives it as his opin ion that it would be cheaper to build a new plant than to attempt to con vert the brewery Into a cannery or any other enterprise. The attorney general to be ex offlclal state commissioner of prohi bition, with full power and sole final responsibility for enforcement: he to have the privilege of employing speci al deputies, and power to enforce the law when county officials fail. 2 Ouster proceedings for delinquent county officials. S. Making It unlawful to sell, bar ter, furnish for sale, or keep for sale anything for which the U. S. govern ment requires a liquor dealer's tax. 4. Making it unlawful to advertise liquors by newspapers, bill boards, or otherwise. 5. Fines to be a lien against prop erty where offense was committed. 6. Making it compulsory for con victed persons to give bond that they will not again offend for two years; on failure or refusal to furnish bond, to go to Jail for two years. 7. Making it unlawful to solicit or receive orders for liquors. 8. Making it unlawful to keep or furnish liquor to members in any club house or place of public resort. 9. Making place where Intoxicating liquors are sold or kept for sale a common nuisance, and providing for abatement of the same. 10. Strong search and seizure law; liquors to be destroyed upon convic tion. II. Ownership of government li quor dealer's stamp for possession of liquors In quantities to be prima facie evidence of illicit selling. 12 Making the sale of near-beer and all other malt liquor substitutes unlawful. IS. Providing a way for county courts to appropriate funds to be used by prosecuting attorneys in se curing evidence, and providing that one half of all fines shall go to the witness securing the same. 14. Providing that organisations or Individuals may employ counsel,, who shall be recognised as associate dist rict attorney; no case to be dismissed over protest of associate counsel ex cept by order of the Judge, and pro viding that in case of conviction, reasonable attorney's fees for the 1 laintiff shall be assessed and collected with the fine. The fighting prowess of a white bulldog .assisted the police In killing a mad dog that terrorlied desldents on Oglesby ave nue, at Seventy-ninth Btreet, recently. The bulldog was chained in the yard of J. Link, its owner, 7806 Oglesby avenue, when the mad dor ran In. Link advanced in an attempt to frighten the animal away, when he was attacked. The bulldog waited antil the maddened animal came with in reach of his leash and got a throat hold.
