What is a good store? It is NOT a, question of how large but it is a question of Merchandise priced right. Mcrchandino tlmt is selected right and Merchandise that is I'luced into your hands with the right kind of service. When tho price is placed on an article here, it is with the idea of wiling it, NOW, at a price fair to buyer and ourselves; not with the idea of cutting tho price later, thus giving tho early buyer the-worst of the deal by pay ing more than is right to balance up a cut price to a late customer. Then again wo K?rsonalI.y select our goods with tho assistance of an Eastern man, thus getting the right goods. As to sen-ice, we aim to givo the bet in Pendleton. , "Not how large, but how good." The efficiency of the soldiers de pends too much upon their health and en durance to risk the use of food which the authorities believe would be detrimental. Therefore the manufacture and sale of the alum powder is prohibited. Royal Baking Powder is extensively used privately and by the military forces through out the world. Its absolute wholesome ness, imparting as it does, healthful as well as appetizing qualities to the food, and its per fect keeping qualities in every climate and under different conditions, make it particu larly desirable for all conditions of use. Editor East Oregonlan: Will you or your readers, or some of the mortgage and diamond owners who are opposing the $1500 Homes Tax Exemption, kindly and fully an swer the following questions? $1500 Invested In a mortgage Is not taxed In Oregon. Smith for governor of Oregon has features that appeal with force to workingmen who know him and who know his views on political, economic and social questions. Among the ad miral qualities of Dr. Smith may be named a true democratic disposition that makes him ready at all times to give ear and attention to the poor man as well as the rich; a spirit of fairness that causes him to look at the real merits of public questions and to decide Issues justly; a broad Intelligence that gives him faith in the common people and makes him the champion of such laws as the di rect primary law; a high personal character that has always kept him aligned with the clean element which stands for honesty and decency In public affairs and for the enforce ment of the law. Whereas, the candidacy of Dr. Smith should have especially support from workingmen because his oppo nent In the race for governor Is of the over conservative type; has shown himself unfriendly to the direct pri mary law and during this campaign has spoken In criticism of the policy of excluding Chinese labor from the United States. Therefore be it resolved, that the members of Pendleton Typographical Union 114 hereby endorse the candi dacy of Dr. Smith for governor of Oregon and urge his election by the people November S.
