An executive committee consisting of D. C. Sanderson of Freewater, chairman. E P., Dodd of Hermiston, Frank loan of Stanfield, Henry Bar rett of Athena and George Done of Pilot Rock was appointed while Chairman Asa B. Thomson, Gus Winckler. D. C. Sanderson, G. W. Hansel and E. J. Sommerville were named as a committee to draw up a platform of principles. It will probab ly be a week before this platform is drawn up, according to Secretary Buroughs. The effecta of germs on living bod ies will be illustrated by means of healthy guinea pigs which will be In oculated with various disease germs. Of interest to farmers will be the exposition of various types of diseases that afect farm ardmals. The results oi tuoercuiosis in cattle, swine and chickens in various stakes of the dis ease will be portrayed. To illustrate the ravages made by hog cholera and lumpy jaw, specimens taken from an imals afflicted with tese diseases will be on exhibition. A few days ago he went fish ing, and in the excitement dropped his pocketbook, containing real money, into the river. He pondered until he realized on his) meditations. He went to the same spot where he lost his pocketbook. He took another book of the same proportins and filled It wis as nearly the same bulk as the ne he had lost. He cast It into the riv er after he had attached a string to it just where the other book disap peared. Then he followed the string with some grappling hooks. Just before the couple were to marry, however, they had a serious talk, which brought about the fact that neither thought enough of the other to warrant happi ness in the conjugal state: besides, each agreed that they had a fond ness fur someone else. Having arrived at the conclusion that they would not marry, Meyer, in the meantime proposed to Miss Ella Wildermuth of Landingville The lat ter was not at nil loth to accompany her fiance to the register's office here when application was made by Meyer for a new license. After satisfactory explanations had been made the new license was issued and the happy couplw a short time la ter were quietly married and. are now on their honeymoon. Itocelves PlH'innt Eggs, Elmer McCormmach, well known young farmer, has received a ship ment of nine silver pheasant and elev en golden pheasant eggs from the state game farm at Corvallis in re turn for two nests of prairie chicken eggs which he found while plowing. Young McCormmach will experiment with his pheasant eggs with a view to fleeing how well the birds are adapt ed to this climate. Supt. Simpson of the farm writes that he now has set ting 150o pheasant eggs, 400 of which are of the Heeves variety. Though his position was sought by another, County Clerk Frank Baling did not make an expensive campaign to secure renomlnatlon, his sworn statement filed today showing that his expenses to have been only $25.15. Roland Oliver, candidate for the re publican nomination for representa tive, spent $80.20 in getting his name before the voters, according to his statement filed today, while T. D. Tay lor, who secured both the republican and democratic nomination for sheriff turned the trick by spending the small sum of $32. Shu will die. A man who saw her In the street tried to force his attention on her. She repulsed him, but he asked hei last week to elope with him. She turne;l from him In disgust. On Sat urday night, according to her hus band, the man made a second plea. She told him she would have nothing to do with him. Then, says Tetl, the man threatened to kill her if she did not go with him. Teti started out at 8 o'clock to make some purchases. On his way downstairs he heard a shot. Running back he found his wife lying on the floor. A revolver was In her right hand and there was a bullet wound In her right temple. Pigeons Mete Out Justice. Newark, N. J Captain Oscar Vo gel, of the fourth police precinct, took a Solomon-like method of determin ing the ownership of fifteen pigeons taken fro mtwo boys who were at tempting to sell them. The lads were arrested on suspicion they had stolen the birds. Later three pigeon fanciers put In an appearance at the station house, each claiming a certain number of pigeons. The total of the claims ag gregated a number larger than the total of the birds. When Captain Voget saw they couldn't straighten the question out among themselves, he announced the disposal of the birds would be defer red until the next day. In the morning the captain order ed the crate containing the pigeons to be carried into the street and they were released one by one As thy flw away they took different courses). Later all were located In the coops of the thre edifferent fanciers. Ink marks had been placed on their feath ers so they could be. Identified. "I guess they know where they be long," said the captain, "so we'll let them stay where they are." TOWN JiUILT THREE TIMES. Kansas Village Has History Which Is Unique. Larned, Kan. For the third time in its history the town of Nettloton, between this place and Kinsley, on the main line of the Santa Fe, is to be rejuvenated. About twenty five years ago a store, hotel and about a dozen dwellings wore built there, but all were moved away when the boom collapsed In the later 80's. About ten years ago a man named Abrahamson built and conducted a store there In an effort to get the town started, but the project shared a like fate. Now comes Frank Kettleson of Kinsley and Spearvllle. who is building a two story building at the place and will conduct the store an 1 elevator there in an ef fort to get the town off on the right foot. He Is going to try to make the town sometlng besides a name on the Santa Fe folders. NOT DEAD; DODGES WIFE. New York. He left Indica tions of a sudden demise, it Is said, to escape from his wife, who gave him a severe beating the day he disappear ed. She Is a large woman, while he is diminutive in stature. Rick went clamming after the beat ing. He didn't return. His boots were found in the water and his boat was adrift. Rick's wife went to East Moriches on receipt of news of his whereabouts.
