WH 11 .t, Ujw mi'.' , 4. . ... iww - TWELVE PAGES DAILY EAST OREGKXNTAN, PENDLETON, OREGON. FRIDAY, APRIL 26, 1912. PAGE ELEVEN The absolute vegetables purity of S. S. S. has always been one of the Strongest points in its favor, and is one of the principal reasons why it is the most widely known and universally used of all blood medicines. A great many of the so-called blood purifiers are really nothing more than strong mineral mixtures which act so unpleasantly and disastrously on the delicate membranes and tissues of the stomach and bowels, that even if such treatment purified the blood, the condition in which the digestive system is left would often be more damaging to the health than the original trouble. , Not so with S. 8. 8. it is the greatest of all blood purifiers, and at the same time is an absolutely safe and harmless remedy. It is made entirely of the healing and cleansing extracts and juices of roots, herbs end barks, each of which is in daily use in some form by physicians in their practice. Years of work and research have proven S. S. 8. to contain everything necessary to purify the blood and at the same time supply the system with the pureBt and best tonic effects. S. S. S. cures Rheumatism, Catarrh, Sores and Ulcers, Skin Diseases, Scrofula, Contagious Blood Poison and all other blood troubles, and it leaves the system in perfect condition when it has purified the blood. Book containing much valuable informa tion on the blood and any medical advice desired sent free to all who write. THE SWIFT SPECIFIC CO., ATLANTA, GA. (From Thursday's Journul.) While there wus only a fair show ing of cattle In the yards today bet ter stuff than sold yesterday at $7.25 went at $7.10. This would indicate fractional weakness. Killers have been liberal buyers of late at North Portland and while the trend of the trade is healthy, they are in a posi tion to resist too high a price. Offerings at North Portland during the day totaled 259 head, compared with 469 last Thursday on this same day a year ago. Only fractional changes are noted In the mutton division at North Port land. Slowly, but surely, prices are easing off. The top limits are being gradually reduced. While the tone of the market remains very good, the Increasing offerings of the day brought about a slight price reaction. Run of sheep and lambs for the day brought about a slight price re action. Run of sheep and lambs for the day was 14 38 head, compared with 109 a week ago and 1039 for this day a year ago. PURELY YOX DETECTIVES SHOW PROFICIENCY Wichita, Kan Women detectives have been added to the' Wichita police force, and, according to Chief Cub bon, they have been rendering valu able service. One of them, Jessie S'talcup, discovers violations of the prohibitory law in places where a wo man could get information fhen a can couldn't. The idea came to Chief Cubbon, after hearing a talk by AVilliam J. Burns about valuable detective service rendered by women. He was given a fund out of which to pay the women. "We have found women a valuable adjunct to the regular force," Chief Cubbon said. "The women we use are nearly all country girls who have come to the city, and who have found the life not what It Is painted, but who have seen some of its evil side and have withstood Its perils. "One of our women detectives work ed in a restaurant as a waitress, where she learned many things that have been Invaluable to us. She has plenty of nerve, and has gone Into the worst places where most women wouldn't venture, and has 'turned up some criminals, men and women whoso arrest we considered import ant." WARNING.
