Coe, one of the chief Roosevelt boosters In Oregon, is al so candidate for delegate to the na tlonal convention to be held in Chi cago. While here Dr. Coe is working in behalf of his candidacy and yes terday had the following to say re. garding the race he la .making: "The matter of choice for presi dent Is one in which every citizen should be his own Judge. "I am urging the selection of Theo dore Roosevelt. This because he has given me his friendship for a third of a century, and I have had a chance to know the man well. I conscienti ously believe he is the best man now before the people. , "He is western, in many things. Ha has been with the common people, as a common man, and knows what the common individual needs, and if the average man is taken care of, and is prosperous, every one is pros perous. I am looking for active times. He is active and action is 'catching.' If he is chosen, people will take courage and at once begin to do business. Because he will be 'doing business.' "While I am for Roosevelt, 'under our primary law, as a delegate, if I am sent to the Chicago convention, I become a sworn officer of the state, merely under instruction to carry out the will of the voters as they may express in their preferential choice, whether for Roosevelt, Taft or La Follctte. I become a mere errand boy with nine others to follow the mandates of the sovereign state 1 hope to represent in" the Chicago convention. I must and will give al loyal support to him who carries the head of the ticket, if he should bo Taft or La Follette, as I will to Roose velt, if he carries the state. "It looks now as though the dele gates will be split almost evenly be tween the candidates, so far as the Individual choice of the several dele gates are concerned, under the work ing out of the proportional represen tation brought about by the fact that the voter can vote for but one dele gate. "Locality, therefore, is having a good deal to do with the matter of votes for the delegates. The bulk o the Baker county vote of all fac tions will go to the Baker county candidate regardless of whom he fa vors. Wasco will divide her vote between her two candidates, and so on. "Quite naturally, I am hoping for a large vote from Umatilla county, regardless of my personal preferences for president. Being the only candi date for delegate, living or largely Interested in Umatilla county, on the republican ticket, and having made some sacrifices for this county, with much work for her interest still be fore me, I am looking for srtmething more than an average vote here cast for the delegates, and of course shall greatly appreciate the same." Honest Statement of Well Known Citizen Tor Smaller Paper Money. Washington. If the recommenda tion which Secretary of the Treasury MacVeagh will send to congress soon Is adopted, the paper money of the United States will be reduced In size very materially and every denomina tion made uniform in design. It Is contemplated to make all notes 8 by 2 1-2 inches and to reduce the number of designs from 19 to 9- It is estimated by the secretary that the change in design would result in a saving to the government of more than $500,000 annually. It was pointed out by the secretary that he could make the innovations with re spect to the United States notes and certificates without congressional ac tion, but that It would require legis lative authority to change the de sign of the national bank notes. It Is proposed by the secretary to have a uniform national bank note. instead of the municipliclty of designs now In use by the 7000 odd national banks. The name or number, design ing each bank, could be printed on the notes by a process separate from the engraving. An advertisement of Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root, which I saw in the St Albans Messenger some time ago, in diiced me to give your remedy a fair trial. I was then suffering from terrible pains in the small of my back. The pain was usually greatest during the morning, and often when. I at tempted to arise front my bed I found I could not do so without the assist ance of some member of my family. I am very grateful for the good your great reedy has done for me. I thought I would have to use much more Swamp-Root than I did, in order to get well, but am absolute ly cured of my kidney trouble and now without the slightest pain, after using only seven bottles. Was cured about six months ago and although I do heavy work in the shop where I have been employed for the past for,;, ty-nve years, have had no reoccur rence of the trouble or pain in the slightest degree. I am doubly thankful for this and while now an old man, I again feel the strength of my youth, thanks to Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root. Many others also use it to as good advantage as I have. "I will say that I have been suffering with an itching on my scalp for the part few years. My hair fell out In spots all over my head. My scalp started to troubla me with sores, then the sores healed up, and crusts formed on the top. Then the hair fell out and left me three bald spots tho shape of a half dollar. I went to more than one doctor, but could not get any relief, so I started to use the Cuticura Remedies. I tried one bar of Cuticura Soap and some Cuticura Ointment, and felt relieved right away.
