Dunning had an elegant fur lap robe taken from his buggy and O. M. Hoosier also lost a fine robe; Glen Richards lost several dollars worth of groceries and other articles, all these thefts being perpe trated while the owners were attend ing an entertainment. Another' par ty lost a pair of chaps, taken from his horse that was left standing on Main street, several blocks from where the other goods were taken. No trace of the culprit has been found, which Is fortunate for him. as the victims are not in this instance what might be termed good losers. Chaperoned by Miss Maude Smith, Tuesday evening John Beavert and Floyd Brumfleld gave a party in Web ster hall on Main street, their guests being the following members of their class in high school: ' Misses Anita Howard, Myrtle Anderson, Mary Con nelly, Helen Wheeler, Messrs. Ralph Hiatt. Clement Howard. Ed Fulford, Glen Wallace and Harold Wheeler. The evening was spent in a most en joyable manner with games, after which refreshments were served. The Hermlaton basketball team has made arrangements with the Stanfield team to play a game here tomorrow evening. News has Just been received here to the effect that Ivan W. Claude Sloan of Echo, was a Stan field visitor Monday. Dr. Henry Waldo Coe went to Port land Tuesday morning where he will spend several days. Miss Edna Brumfleld, who has been for the past several weeks visiting her mother, Mrs. S. E. Brumfleld, re turned Tuesday to Grangeville. Idaho. E. P. Marshall, vice president of the Inland Irrigation company, with headquarters at Pendleton, was tran sacting business In Stanfield Tuesday. J. H. Bruce of Eschbach, Bruce Co., contractors who are construct ing the drainage system here, arrived yesterday and is looking after busi ness in connection with their con tract. G. L. Hurd, editor of the Stanfield Standard, is confined to his home with an attack of la grippe. J. J. Morris, both having married since that day six years ago when the present Mrs. Wormser wrote a letter from her home at Webster Springs and accepted the proposal of Morris, who resided at Rivesvllle. ,The letter was six years traveling 200 miles, and when it finally reached Morris It was too late. The letter was mailed in 1906. It reached Rlversvllle, Morris' former home, two days after it was mailed., as the postmark shows. Where tho yettef has been all these years cannot be ascertained. Supposing the failure of the wo man to answer was a rejection of his proposal, Morris married another.
