Bullens of Pendleton, who has been In the Wal!a Walla river country for several days attempting to secure ev idence against quail killers in that neighborhood, returned to Pendleton Saturday and reported that while he knows positively that the birds were being slaughtered, he could find no good clues towards the guilty parties,. Mr. Sullcns was sent here from Pendleton by the Umatilla county au thorities last Thursday to interview Foro Supervisor Schmltis, and a plan of action was mapped out. Sullcns went to the vicinity where the quails were reported to be disappearing and spent three days visiting farmers and looking for evidence of the illegal sport No Information could bo gain ed grom the residents, except that they knew that quail were being killed.
