No matter in what way an old sore or ulcer first commenced, whether from a wound, cut, or bruise, or from the ulceration of a wart, pimple or mole, or even if it came without apparent reason, the fact that it does not heal shows that bad blood is responsible for the place. While the circulation remains impure and polluted, the nerves and tissues of the flesh around the place are constantly being fed with unhealthy matter and the fibres are thus prevented from knitting to gether and healing. Purify the blood and the place MUST heal, its cause having been removed. S. S. S. cures old sores and chronic ulcers because it is the greatest of all blood purifiers. It removes from the circulation every taint or impurity, and so enriches the blood that it feeds and nourishesjhe tender, sensitive flesh, causes a knitting together of all fibrous tissue and thus heals the place naturally and permanently. W. Wickliff, a wealthy Oklahoma mer chant, gave a little drinking and danc ing party on a Ch.cago, Rock Island and Pacific railroad train coming into Kansas City late at night. It cost him $200 in the South City Court in Kansas City, Kan., next morning. Wlckliff pleaded guilty to charges of drinking on a train and disturbing the peace. Fifteen persons, who were passengers in the same car Wlckliff and two women companions occupied, remained over In Kansas City to ap pear against him. Thomas May, a Rock Island police man, had Wlckliff arrested. "The man and the two women, one of whom he said was his wife, were cutting up on the train," May said. "Then Wickliff produced a revolver and fired a shot through a window of the car. The other passengers be gan to feel uncomfortable. Then the man picked up one of the women and stood her on her head on the floor of the car. She was In scant lingerie. Everyone became offended except the woman, who simply laughed when turned right way up again." Wickliff made no denials. All he did was hurry the proceedings bo he could pay his fine and get away. He told officers that the woman who stood on her head in the car was his wife. WEDS HEIRESS, BUT MUST SERVE OUT ARMY TERM, General Wood Refuses to Accept Res ignation of Lieutenant Riiinbuiigh. Washington. SeDt. 16. eral Wood, chief of staff, refused to accept trie resignation of Second Lieu tenant Stanley M. Rumboueh. FMf teenth cavalry, he cruelly Interfered vwtn uupid's arrangements by which the officer s to become the husband of Miss Colgate, a New York heiress. More than this General Wood has Indicated a disposition to prevent the use of the army ss a matrimonial bureau. He Insists that after offi cers have been educated at West Point they owe the government at least four years' service and that even then they will not be released merely to cap ture an heiress. It Is understood pressure from in fluential quarters has been brought to bear on the war department to bring about the acceptance of the resigna tion of Lieutenant Rumbough. Some of the officers at the department had approved it but when t reached Gen eral Wood It was turned down in a most emphatic manner. The lieutenant was given a leave of three months, with permission to ap ply for an extension. This, General Wood thinks, is sufficient for a honey moon, and after that t-me the officer must return to Fort Myer where he Is stationed, and get into service. Lieutenant Rumbough is a splendid horseman and an efficient officer. The fact that he will have a large income through h's matrimonial alliance, in the opinion of General Wood, does not relieve him of his dutv to the army.
