Pre-eminently a self-made man, he Is now the president of the Thelps Publishing company, of Spring field, Mass., with between $2,000,000 and $3,000,000 employed In his pub lishing industry. His printing plant, snld to be the largest of Its kind, oc cupies a vast fire-proof building with nearly nine acres of floor space. Mr. Myrick will tell the convention his Ideas on bringing people from the East to tho Ideal agricultural lands of the Northwest. He plans to keep the American farmer on this side of the Canadian border, and Is deeply Interested in building up the great Northwest states. To pro mote such an organization in the Northwest I tender the resources of the publications I have the honor to represent and of their periodicals with more than 10,000,000 readers, In his coming tour of tho North west Mr. Myrick will deliver a large number of addresses. He will appear beforo tho legislatures at St. Paul, Bismarck and Pierre and very likely at Boise, Honela, Olympla and Salem He will also speak at Seattle and Spokane and while In Portland will be the guest of the Portland Commer cial club. If he has the time at his disposal he may make addresses In several Oregon cities. Mr. Myrick Is a prolific author, having written voluminously upon agricultural subjects besides turning out educational work, historical ro mances and editing many publlcatl ons. Helen Matthews of Stewart creek spent Sunday in Pendleton with friends. Rev. K. W. Warrington and Lemuel Casteel drove down to Pendleton Tuesday morning on business. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Belts have re turned to Pilot Rock after a few weeks spent In the Pasco country. Mr. Donald Ross was a Pendleton visitor Friday evening. Al Buttler was a Pendleton busi ness visitor Friday. Miss Esther Sturtevant Is spending a few days in Pendleton with friends. Merwyn Gilbert of Ukiah Is visiting with his parents for a few days, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Gilbert. Julius Mathews was a Pilot Rock business visitor Monday. Mr. E. W. Warrington returned from Ukiuh Monday. A surprise party was given at the home of Mr. L. E. Roy, in honor of his son Marvin's sixteenth birthday.
