A German living In Brazil has dis covered a rock over flOO feet above the ground, which shows the kaiser's head, even to the moustache. The German supports thi statement by the testimony of other Germans and by photographs. As the view of his majesty's picture was somewhat hid den by neighboring rocks, this pat riotic German has purchased the ground upon which they stand with the intention of blasting them. He Soes not, however, wish to have a monopoly of royalty, so he has open ed a subscription list to enable other Germans to show their loyalty to the kaiser and the fatherland. . Paris. If the French government can see its way clear to co-operate with the movement to place the re mains of the young king of Rome by the side of those of his Illustrious father In the Invalides, no one would demur. You have only to assist at the performance of the "Alglon" to realize the profound sympathy of the French people for the unfortunate Duke de Reichstadt, who died at Schaenbiunn on July 22, 1832. The logic of history alone would suggest that the proper place for the great emperor's son is the Invalides. and not the Church of the Capushins at Vienna. They so loved each other and both died in exile In the com mon disaster. It may reasonably be supposed that Austria would not ob ject to the transfer if the govern ment of the republic desired it. The Echo de Paris writes as If the thing were possible, and Mme. Sever Ine pleads earnestly for the realiza tion of a spectacle that would be at once pathetic and picturesque. The republic Is strong enough to bear the strain. Louis Phillippe had much more to fear from a recrudes cence of Bonaparttsm in 1840, and yet he had the coffin of Napoleon I brought over from St. Helena and placed where It now is. Never Worry.
