Charles Campbell of Walla Walla, came in this morning on the North ern Pacific train. J. R. Chockley of Meacham, has been in Pendleton today for the tran saction of business. E. W. Wilbur, the pioneer sawmill man, is down today from his mill on Upper McKay creek. Mrs. J. F. McNaught of Hermlston, was among the passengers on this morning's motor car. Frank King, an employe of the Milne transfer company, has return ed from a short outing. Dr. C. J. Smith returned this mor nlng from Seaside where he had been to spend a w,eek with his family. Kenneth Hunter has gone to Black- foot, Idaho, where he will visit on the farm of an uncle for several days. Mrs. L. H. Hutchinson returned this morning from La Grande, where she had been visiting for several days. Bert Wilson, claim agent for the O. R. & N. came in this morning from Walla Walla on the local train. T. H. Chung, proprietor of a res taurant In Umatilla, Is up from that town for the transaction of business. Mrs. R. o. Casey of Helix, came In this morning and Is visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Will Pen-land. Peter Sheridan, the Butter creek rancher, came up this morning on the motor car to spend the day. In Pen dleton. Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Montgomery and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Montgomery ex pect to leave this evening for Wenaha springs. Lyle Beeny and wife are In from the Susanville country, having brought In a bunch of cattle for shipment to Seattle. Miss Lillian Rieden, the trained nurse, who has beeji spending her va cation in the mountains, has return ed home. Mrs. Gus La Fontaine and two daughters have returned from Port land where they have been visiting for some time. Mrs. J. E. Brown and two children of Walla Walla, came down from We naha springs' this morning on their way home from an outing. H. J. Martin of the Co lumbia college at Mlton, passed through Pendleton this morning on his way to Lexington, In the Interest of the school. ' Hon. C. A. Barrett .came In last evening from Pilot Rock where he had been In the interest of his candi dacy for the republican nomination for Joint senator. Mrs. iJewls Hunter left this morn ing for Clarkston to look after prop erty interests. She recently had a brick buldlng destroyed by fire at that place and will have It rebuilt. Rev. Gabriel Sykes, district super intendent for this district of the Methodist church, passed through Pendleton this morning on his way to Echo to hold quarterly meeting. Attorney Herman ' Beverley who has hud charge of the law practice of S. F. Wilson at .Athena during the past few days, drove down from that place today in Wilson's automobile The two will return this afternoon. William Evans, wife and son Eldon of Coos Bay who have been visiting for several days with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Penland left tojjay for Ba ker City, where' they will visit at the home of Mrs. Evan's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Matthews. Dr. G. S. Holslngton has returned from San Francisco where he had been to attend the national conven tion of ostepoathlc physicians. Fol lowing the convention he spent sever al days visiting some of the coast cities.
