Portland Union Stockyards, North Tortland, Ore., Aug. 4. Market for steers la firm at $5. 75 for good qual ity that Is generally considered top al though It is still possible to obtain 1 8 for something that Is as good as for merly sold at this value. The stuff that came forward to the yards during the past 24 hours was not of the best quality and therefore quotations failed to line up with those listed at the top. The market for swine remains about as previously quoted, $10.25 still being available here for selected quality. Sheep market values are being held rather steady. The run for the day v. as liberal. Among tlio Shippers. Kl dwell & Caswell brough a mixed load of cattle and calves from Haines. W. E. Hunt was offering four loads of sheep from Shaniko. f. P. Spnrk shipped a load of cattle from Huntington and E. P. Logan and C. V. Logan each had a load of cat tle and calves from the same place this morning. W. E. O'Nell shipped a load of cat tle to the yards today. Ben Howell brought In 40 head of cattle by boat. Sun Dial ranch shipped 801 head of heep Into the yards this wtornlng.
