WALLA WALLA WILL WAGE WAR OS CODLING MOTH Walla Walla The second brood of codling moth will soon be busy, ac cording to local fruit authorities, and spraying for the pests must be made again this week. This will make the third treatment the trees have had this year. "There are few moths left on the trees." said a well known orchardist Friday. "The first spraying was thorough, and covered flhe ground well. Thus most of the first brood was killed and little remained for the propagation of the second. However, orchardists are going to take few risks I find and will make the third and even the fourth spraying, with unabated vigor." Poos luniagt in Three Wevks. The moth will be in the fruit, from about July 20 until August 10. say local authorities, and spraying should be done immediately. Some 20 days will elapse before the third brood ap pears and the final spraying will then be at hand. Orchards are clean in the Walla Walla valley this year. There was much talk about a little blight that affected the apples this year, but un der the direction of District Fruit In spector C. L. Whitney this was thor oughly cleaned out, and the trees are doing wll. There was no damage t all to the old trees, and consequently this year's crop was not affected. Poar Trees Affected Lightly. Pear trees have also been slightly affected and have been treated care fully. Orchardists are warned to watch for any reappearance of the pest and to cut It out at once. If they do not understand the treat ment. Inspector Whitney has deter mined to go, In person, and supervise the work Some scale Is noticed this year, but not enough to be seriously taken into consideration in figuring the crop for the year. U Wag a Friend Who Advised Foley Kidney Pills. N. W. Reid, Jacksonville, III., writes: "Sometime ago I was attack ed by sinking spells and felt all tired and worn out. Hal also a pain In my bladder and a bearing down pain across the hips. The doctors pro nounced It kidney trouble. A friend of mine advised me to try Foley Kid ney Pills which I did, and after tak ing them for a time I noticed my usual vitality and vigor returning, so I kept on until now I again feel well and strong. This was brought about by the use of Foley Kidney Pills, which I can truly recommend." Koeppen & Bros. SPORTS Pacific Const League. W. L. P.C. I took all kinds of medicines, but none of them did me any permanent good. About four weeks ago I began to treat with Fer Don's Medical Experts and I am now better than I have been for three years and I believe their medicine and treatment are the true method for curing this distressing complaint. I feel like a different man altogether. You have my permission to use my name and publish this. A. Rathwell, R. F. D. No. 1,. Eugene, Or. Another Local Treatment. Nearly 5 years ago I was struck with paralysis of the entire left side of the body, being unable to move even a fin ger. I have been under the care of three doctors and have taken a great deal of patent medicines, but was not cured. Three weeks ago I began treating with the Fer-Don European Medical Experts and the effects of their medicine and treatment are very wonderful for I have improved more under their care in the three weeks than I did all the time before and I take great pleasure in recommending them to all sufferrers. I walked over seven miles Sunday, May 15, the first time since I took down sick five years ego. Mrs. Effie Goldson, Junction City, Lane County, Or. THE XmiiEU OF PROOFS GROWS EVERY DAY Fer-Don'g European Medical Experts Effect Wonderful Cures Testi mony of Tho-e Benefited. Reports concerning the wonderful success of the European Medical Ex perts In Eugene grow more encourag ing every day. Testimonials from men, women and children whom the Euro pean doctors have treated during their stay in that city are readily forth coming, it is claimed, and those ben efited and cured seem anxious to tell others of the good done by the doctors. The Great Fer-Don and his Euro pean doctor has written proofs of curc-s performed by the Eurojjean Medical Experts In California and Oregon, and amnn? them Is that of J. G. Ixiwe, of Valk-lo. Mr. Lowe suffered excrutiatingly from stomach trouble and had gone- to several phy slcinns for treatment but without re lief. Case of Mr. Lowe. Mr. Lowe heard of the remarkable skill of the Great Fer-Don and his European Medical Experts and at tended the talks given nightly hf the Great Fer-Don. At first, like many others, he did not believe In the Eu ropean doctors but when his friend told him of the benefits derived from treatments given by the latter, and when he saw with his own eyes tho almost miraculous work of the Euro pean Medical Experts he became con vinced. He then consulted the Eu ropean Doctors. He was given a dose of medicine for a tapeworm. In three hours' time he had the monster In his home. i "I thing," Bald Mr. Lowe, "that the treatment received is the greatest in the world, and that the remedies of the Great Fer-Don and his European Experts are the best ever prepared for suffering mankind." Mr. Lowe is a reputable man in the community and is ready to tell others of the benefit derived from the treat, ment of the European Medical Ex perts. . There is nothing so painful, so dreadful as cancer. Mrs. J. L. McKlt trick, of Coallnga, Cal., suffered for years with cancer of the mouth and nose, and tried many remedies, but failed to find relief from the agony she endured. She Is a young woman and has many friends and acquaint ances in Coallnga, Cal. She heard ot the marvelous work of the European Medical Experts and submitted her case to them. Other physicians pro nounced her ailment Incurable, but with a few treatments at the hands of the European doctors she Is ready and willing at all times to tell the suffer ing public about her case. Daily the number of patients wait ing for treatment by the European doctors grows. A number of people from surround ing towns have come to Eugene and Salem to consult the European doc tors. They offer treatment for a very small amount. A few minutes spent In the wait ing room of the European- doctors will prove to the most skeptical the true merits and healing powers of these wonderful doctors. The Great Fer-Don says: "What makes this European expert so much In demand Is that he has cured and benefited so many. He has filed In his office testimonials from hundreds who have been treated and greatly benefited by him, and who are glad to let others know of the good done by him." About Calamity Howlers. "You see,"continued the Great For Don, "enmity always follows success, and there Is always a certain class of humanity ready to cry 'humbug,' 'fake' and 'quack,' but such howlers and defamers of honest character are very seldom successful In any line of business, because they do not at tend to their own. They are too busy sticking their noses Into the affairs of others. For the benefit of some of these 'Whistlers,' 'whittlers' and 'spltters,' I will give the names and addresses of certain citizens of Eu- l gene, Medford, Roseburg, Redding. Chlco, Los Angeles, Oakland and Sacramento, cured and benefited by the European doctor. "I stand ready to post $10,000 that theso names and addresses are genu Ine. I want the howlers to go and see theso peoplo who have suffered from stomach troubles, liver com plaints, tapeworms, gall stones, tu mors, cancers and other ailments and hear from their own Hps what our doctor has done for them." The Wisconsin Taft republicans, organized at the re cent state convention In Milwaukee to fight the spread of La Follettelsm and If possible to defeat the progres sive leader for re-election, will use the same fighting, machine-like or ganization that characterized the election of La Follette to his first term as governor, which later was used to elect a candidate for governor of the progressive type, but which now will be used against the man In whose Interest It was first formed. The man who advised the system and who worked It successly In two campaigns for La Follette, W. D. Connor, Is the man who Is now or ganizing the old-style fighting ma chine for use against La Follette, The officers are already developing the new machine, which will consist almost entirely of republican clubs. The Connor plan Is to form clubs in every precinct In the state. The clubs then work through the Individuals, each Individual learning and report ing to headquarters the sentiments ot his neighbors. Through this organization it is pos slble to make a card Index of every voter In Wisconsin. The card Index system was used to elect La Follette and now it is -used to defeat him. "Cy" Wins 0OMI1 Victory. Washington, July 20. Cy Young. the G. O. M. of the ball, yesterday afternoon won his five hunJredth vic tory with the defeat of the Wash ington club by the Cleveland club. It took Cy 11 innings to get the measure, and when he accomplished this he was tendered a tremendous ovation. The veteran allowed the Senators four hits throughout the entire 11 innings. Young has been pitching ball since 1890, and started out with the Cleve land club, and will probably end up his career with the Naps. Johnson Gets Knockout. Argument over the knockout and round-ending features of the recent heavy weight championship event at Reno continues unabated, many of the hedgers endeavoring to crawl out of their wagers. Those who bet the fight would go fifteen rounds lost their money, for the bout went only fourteen rounds and a portion. Just to convince the Missourians here are reproduced re plies to queries sent to Otto Floto, of the Denver Post; W. W. Naughton of the San Francisco Examiner, and Tex Rickard, referee: "Tho fight did not go fifteen rounds. Those who bet it did lose. Johnson gets credit for the knockout. W. W. NAUGHTON." "Certainly the coon gets the knockout. It Is the law of the ring that when a second interferes and by that act prevents an actual knock out, the opponent gets credit for a knockout. OTTO FLOTO." "I allowed Johnson th knockout and also gave him the fight the sec ond time he knocked Jeffries down, as I disqualified Jeff on account of his seconds Jumping Into the ring, but Johnson did not understand me. TEX RICKARD." EFFORTS FOR PEACE MADE. IntercM of Yomm May Got Church mid Slate Together. Paris. Pourparlers of an infor mal sort have been taking place be tween the government and the church. Reconciliation Is much In the air. The greatest difficulty Is likely to come from Rome In the framing of any "modus Vivendi." The pope is in translgeant on certain questions of principle, and can never forget that parliament broke the concordat with out consultation with the Vatican. Nevertheless, the mere fact that these things arc being discussed at this present moment Is an excellent sign of pacification ,The bishops' protest against the character of the teaching in tho elementary schools contriblted very largely to the pres ent feeling. In the discussion that ensued in the chamber of deputies evidence was given of the anti-Christian tone of ninny of the school books. This un doubtedly shocked public opinion, hacked up, us it was, by statistics of the alarming increase In Juvenile crime. People felt something was rotten in tho state of Denmark. Recently the Matin, which has generally, a keen appreciation of currents of opinion, has been publishing articles on this very subject. If the church were harmonized with the republic the re public there would be a greater hope of staying Juvenile depravity. Tobacco Prices Are Raised. Washington. The internal revenue tax on smoking and chewing tobacco, cigars and cigarettes imposed by the Payne-Aldrich tariff law has become effective. A like increase is effec tive on cigarettes weighing not more than three pounds a thousand. The tax on large cigarettes is also raised The consumer is compelled to pay the increased cost. The tobacco trust and some of the Independents have already raised prices or reduced the sizes of their goods. CASTOR I A Tor Infant and Children.
