There was only a small showing of supplies today a handful of cattle, small run of hogs and a very mod erate, supply of sheep and lambs. Trade conditions all through the livestock market are Knowing not only a continuation of the previous good Character but In most lines there la a strengthening of values. Hubs ure holding extremely firm with a number of sales of good stock at J10.25, the recent high mark. So few cattle came forward today that the price could scarcely be com pared with previous ones.- Anions tho Slilpix-nt. A. R. Bunson drove In three horses. C. J. Phlllippl, the regular from West .Sclo had a mixed load of cattle and sheep from that point today. A. It Ford was In the yards from Carlton with a mixed load of hogs and sheep. C. H. Fanner, uJa another of the "regulars" that put In appearance to day He offered a mixed load of hogs and sheep from McCoy. E. S. Brown shipped two loads of sheep from Corvallls und was the only shipper of the day who did not have mixed stuff. A year ago today all lines of live stock were firm at unchanged prices. Many llino IVrlshel on Cont of Van couver Island. Victoria, B. C. Ten days spent ca noeing over the graveyard of ma,ny ships was the unique holiday spent by Captain C. V. J. Miller and wife of this city, who have Just returned from the west coast of Vancouver is l.ind. They went to Clo-oose and from there by canoe up and down the island coast, visiting the scene of many wrecks. From the cove now known to the Const Indians at Valetici cave, Cap tain Miller brought many relics of th ! Vnlenefn. the fnclfto ca" "rcr. which drove n.-hore with the result that 140 lives were lost. Tieces of brass, panelling, doors, etc., were re covered by Captain Miller. He saw the remains of a number of other, u recks. The Iron hull of the old Janet Cow an, bent and broken, lies below the water, not far from Pachent and the broken engines of the Valencia, now toppled over and heaped in debris over the holler, can still be seen at low water on the reef where the liner met her fate. lb' says the wreck of the Skagit and anchors and chains of the Vesta and Undo Sam, small sailing vessels, which had stood on the shore for some years. The hulls have now brok en up and only the anchors and chains remain to mark where they ended their careers. The holler of the old Michigan, which was wrecked close to where the Valencia met disaster, nearly a score of years ago. was seen and also scant relics of other wrecks. "It Is not only a graveyard of ships t'lis section of the Vancouver Island coast." said Captain Miller, "hut It also Is a graveyard for human beings. There are scattered along the shore between Darling creek and the mouth of tho Kalewnh river some 20 or more graves, nearly all shallow mounds, where the bodies of victims f wrecks, most of them from the Valencia, ptfll lie interred."
