HI lUif.AP.S GET lU'T SMU.I, LOOT ON WILSON CREEK Wilson Creek, Wash. The first work of the "hobo"' season occurred Saturday evening, when tho Rlue Front saloon and tho Pioneer meat market were broken Into. A spike was used In both cases, and the back doors forced in. They secured r- dol lar's worth of postage stamps, some sides of bacon and nbnvit 50 pennies nt the meat market. In the saloon they got about $8, the contents of the rash register, four bottles of whisky several boxes of cigars, besides pipes and a quantity of tobacco. As It Is rather early in the season for petty thieving to begin there was no night watch oil duty, and no trace of the burglars discovered. Manager Lambert of the Maroons, in an Interview, said that the offer of the Wilson Creek team to play the Colville ball tossers for that $500 purse and I he championship of tho inland empire, had not been answer ed by the anager of the Colville team although the latter gentleman has been giving out long articles to tho Spokane papers about his willingness to meet the Wilson Creek bunoh on Spokane grounds. "If the Colville man will answer my letter." said Mr. Lambert, "the Maroons will accommodate him with satisfactory arrangements for a game. I understand though the newspapes that Colville Is willing to play us on tho Spokane sounds, but I have not been notified to that effect by their manager." Oil is cheaper than coal; it is lighter and easier to handle, and gives an intense heat. Provided you have the right stove, oil is more economical, cleaner and less trouble. Have you seen the Oil Cook-stove The accompanying illustration gives you only a rough Idea of its appearance. You really can't appreciate it until you either use it yourself, or talk to someone who has used it. It does everything that coal range will do except heat the room. Chicago, June 22. Rains in the vxhnat belts of the middle west and a fipeclal report from Europe stating that the Russian crop was better, caused heavy short selling and li quidation today. Market closed here 1 1-4 to 2 7-8c a bushel lower than yesterday. Rroomhall recieved the following cablo from his Rostoff agent: "Drouth Is broken In southeastern Russia and crop conditions are gen erally improving." This Is what caused the heavy break In wheat values after the Initial decline. There was selling from the start, but the greatest liquidation was niter the receipt of the Broomhall cable. Paris wheat closed 5 to 15 centimes higher, Antwerp 1 1-4 higher. Liv erpool opened 1 1-4 to 1 3-Sd higher, but closed unchanged to 1-Sd lower than yesterday. A special dispatch from Amherst, South Dakota, says that drouth has done 50 per cent damage to the wheat crop; hot winds have been blowing from the southwest, and unless rains fall the crop will be burned up. England's future monarch, Prince Edward Albert, old est son of King George, rounded out his sixteenth year today by assuming the title of Prince of Wales. He was born June 23, 1S94. Two years ago he began to prepare himself for a naval career, like his father before him. At Osborn College, where he has boon studying since 1907, he has made himself popular with his fellow stu dents by the genuine, unaffected sim plicity of his manner. He resembles tho Hanoverians In looks and color ing, and Is a sturdy boy, a conscien tious, hard worker rather than a bril liant student. His hobby Is animal pets, of which he has quite a num ber. It remains to be seen whether tho plan of making him a sailor prince like his father, will be carried out, now that he has become the direct heir to the throne. His brother. Prince Albert Fred erick, the second sn, who Is already n cadet In the royal navy, was born nt Tork Cottage on December 14. 1S95. The only daughter, Trinccss Victoria Alexandra, followed, also at Pandringham, on April 25, 1S97. Prince Henry William was born on March 31, 1900. Trince George Ed ward made his appearance on Decem ber 20. 1902, while, finally, the baby. Prince John Charles, arrived on July 12, 1905. The children are much do voted to each other and to their ca pable, wise mother. They share her popularity with tho people, who have been more than enchanted with tho beautiful home life of the royal cou ple. The two older boys, tho enthusiasts about hunting, and expect to be al lowed to follow the liounds ere long. As becomes future navy commanders they are deeply Interested In yacht ing, and It is said that they are both good boxers, the younger brother, however, often pressing his future sovereign close. The younger chil dren are as yet happy In the unspoil ed, simple, natural way which a sen sible system of education has made possible for thorn. THURSDAY, JUNE 28, kettle of water to cooking a course dinner, but it won't heat a room. It doesn't "smell," it doesn't smoke. It can't get out of order. Light it and it is ready. Turn it down and it is out. Only a woman who knows the trouble of carrying coal and cooking in a hot kitchen can appreciate what it means to have a clean, perfect stove that will cook anything, boil, bake or roast, and yet won't heat the kitchen. How is it done? The flams is controlled in turquoise-blue enamel . chimneys, and directed against the bottom of pot, pan, kettle or oven, and only there. Tbe flame operates exactly where it is needed and nowhere else. With this stove your kitchen is cool. The nickel finish with the bright blue of tbe chimneys makes the stove orna mental and attractive. Made with 1, 2 and 3 burners; the 2 and 3-burner stoves can be bad with or without Cabinet.
