Solve Puzzle of Costume to Wear x' Climbing Mt. Mane. raris. President Fallieres and his master of ceremonies. M. Mollard, have been worrying themselves over a novel clothes problem. . The president will shortly visit the Alpine town of Chamonix, and 'will make an excursion to Mount Blanc. This will be an official visit and what to wear on the occasion was the per plexing question. According to cus tom M. Fallieres ought to wear eve ning dress and a silk hat, even In the forenoon. The absurdity of such a rig on a mountain trip was apparent, so the president decided that a special cos tume must be devised. His tailor submitted patterns of suits worn by King Edward at Marienbnd. and M. Fallieres made his choice. A white waistcoat will be worn with the suit, so as to give It a certain "official" appearance. FRONTIERSMEN FOR U. S. Major Vlm-cnt Says He'll Organize Con Mke British. London. Sir John Macdonnell's re port mi the business of the law courts Just Issued, shows that petitions for dissolution of marriage In 190S num bered 84 5, an Increase of 112, while those for separation decreased from 85 to 67, the lowest figures since 1868. His figures prove a growing dis use of resort to Judicial separation, a remedy which Is used chiefly by wives ond the preponderance of petitions for divorce by husbands. In this re spect England differs from almost all other countries for example, France and America. There Is, however, an Increase In wives' petitions for dis solution of marriage. Mrs. Tom Hood, wife of a well-known American painter living in the Avenue du Rois de Boulogne, Is ill from the effects of a highly Interesting romance In Switzerland. Mrs. Hood spends the greater por tion of each winter at Welnt Moritz while her husband goes south to paint. Tills year she made the ac quaintance of two officers, one In the Austrian and the other In the Swiss army. Roth men fell desperately In love with the vivacious little ladv. She Is accustomed fo the good-fellowship of Bohemian circles and accept ed the attentions of the men very much as n matter of course and then forgot them both. Like a holt from the blue sky the Information was hurled at her one morning that the men had quarreled over her and were about to fight a duel. She being a sensible American, did not faint or Indulge in hysterics. Instead she put on her hnt and went forth and arrived on the scene of no tion Just in the nick of time. She treated the men with a little lecture ol common sense and left them under no illusions regarding her feelings to ward them. Indeed, to put it bluntly, f.he told them to behave and go home. They behaved for a little while, but the rivalry again broke out, and she was forced to return to raris to es cape their Importunities, rs. Hood Is pretty tired of military men, espe cially those belonging to the armies of Austria and Switzerland. No Saloons Nenr Indians. St. Paul. Minn.
