Paul Hemmelgarn of Pendleton, visited Stanffeld yesterday. Rhine lander, a prominent New York club man, were married here today. is at Its height The wool is coming to this place in great loads, weighing on an average of 7000 pounds. The warehouses at the Echo Wool Scour ing Mills company are piling from the floor space to the rafters. Warehouse No. 1 Is being held in reserve as long as possible for the heavy shipments that will come here from other points in Oregon and Washington. This vi cinity will send in at least 1.500,000 pounds of wool. The shearing plant is located at the old White House ranch. It has been taken over on the contract basis by Jake Wattenberger, who with 24 shearers and helpers Is running the largest shearing plant In Oregon. All or this wool comes to Echo. Sixty-five hundred sheep will be clipped at this one point, which will approximate 650.000 pounds. The Echo Wool Scouring Mills com pany built here and had Us first run last year. The prices paid here on the scoured basis last year were the highest In the state. On Tuesday evening of this week there will be In the warehouse at Echo 400,000 pounds of wool. The wool is in the best of shape, and is much lighter than last year. The April 23 Issue of the Commer cial Bulletin of Boston. Mass.. says: "New clip wool Is beginning to sell in eastern Oregon, according io me Oregonlan. which says that a few small lots, aggregating about 20 000 j pounds, have been sold recently at Ehco on a basis of 14 to 16 l-2c a pound, or approximately 3 cents less than the same grades of wool sold at i last season. After these preliminary j purchases the buyers withdrew, and no further business was reported in j that section." j The foregoing Is erroneous, as there has been only one sale here this year I That was the Echo Wool Scouring j Mills company.
