The unauthorized use of the title "Sir" Is receiving cioso at-tr-ntlon of the Society of Knights Bachelor, whose annual report was re- ntly Issued. The report stated that when the membership of the Rociety exceeds 100 they will take steps to apply to the Sovereign to consider the question of the restoration of the Inslgna for Knights Bachelor, and thus carry thp intention of Charles I. Into effect Tliev will also nnnly for a charter of incorporation. It was pointed out that prior to the society's formation no machinery ex Isted to prevent the unwarrantable as sumption of the prefix "Sir." A per son representing himself to be n knight, and obtaining credit thereby, however, was recently sentenced to imprisonment. The society would give prompt attention to any such cases that might arise in the future.
