DAILY EAST OREGONIAN, PENDLETON, OREGON, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 81, 1009. PAGE SEVEN. LAMBS ADVANCE 25 CENTS IN MARKET t Ads. f EIGHT PAGES. 3 Ian ALSF0MHA HNTIItK MARKET IS ' GOOD AT STOCKDAYE SUecp ami Lambs Sliov;rtntCHt Dc nand Other Mnm Have Limited Call Highest llotf Values in Coun try raid In Portland. Portland Union Stockyards, Stock dale, Dec. 80. There remains a very firm tone In all llnog of livestock but sheep are showing tho greatest de mand. In other lines there is only a limited call as Is usual Just before the year turns although at this time prices are being maintained os well as when business wag lively. 'Selected lambs are now quoted at $8.26, or an advance of 25c over for mer prices. Sale at this price was made during the day, although the stock had not. been weighed up In time for publication. The entire sheep and lamb market Is stronger than ever before and present indications arc for an advance of ibout 25c all through that line. No Hogs In During the. Day. There were no arrivals of hogs in the stockyards during the 24 hours, hut somo of the former arrivals were sold. Absence of real toppy stuff is shown in the yards at this time, and this accounts fully for the lack of record values. Considering the qual ity, present arrivals of hogs at Stock dale are bringing fully 25c above any price quoted In any other market In the country. Only a few head of cattle and calves came forward. Demand for calves Is very good; likewise for cat tle. Former prices are being main tained. TIiono Who Supply the Market. Pittock & Leadbetter sent in a mix ed load of cattle and calves from their mill at Washougal, Wash. Fra,nk Wann, the Canby shipper, was represented In today's transac tions by a load of sheep. W. L. THE WHEAT MARKET DECEMBER WHEAT MOVES UP TO $1.19 Good Gain Mado Early In Chicago With Very Small Contract Deliveries. Chicago, Dec. 30. Wheat opened 1-8 to l-2c higher and closed with an advance of 3-8 to 7-8c over yester day. Strength abroad was an Influence of note in the making of the wheat market here today. . Liverpool open ed l-4d above yesterday and closed with a net advance of 1-8 to 1 l-8d What caused most of the strength in today's market was the nominal deliveries being made in the wheat pit. The trade had been led to be lieve that deliveries on the Decem ber contract would be among the heaviest In years, but so far as pres ent indications are concerned, the ru mors were false. Today's deliveries wero but 30,000 bushels. December waa the strongest option during most of today's trading, but It closed with the smallest advance. December went to 31.18 01.18 3-4 at the opening, but did not hold Its early advance. Weakness developed with the early and December was carried down to the low mark at 11. 17.1-4. During the later session the market advanced to 11.19, but lost S-4c of this previous to the closing. Minneapolis says the cash wheat market there Is dull again, and It is very hard to sell wheat.
