Perhaps not since "The Virginian" has the stage been offered a hero at once so human, so manly and so Irresistable as Mr. Mil k's "Dob Rickards." ' The glori fied cowboy has appeared in fiction and stage again and again with his sombrero and his wild antics with a six shooter. The thing about Mr. Mack's cowboy, that has appealed so forcefully Is that ho Is real. He Is a num. He does some things that so ciety does not sanction as proper; but his instincts are sound, his heart U big, he Is generous and honorable, and a man to be trusted with a wo man. He has lived the wild, elemen tal life of his kind, but he knows and loves tho better way when he sees it. Mr. Mack was an immense hit at the Oregon last season In "On Parole."
