Every branch of the local live stock market reflects favorable sen timent today. Receipts In general were quite tir over Sunday, but In no line hnd thin the slighted effect toward Btllllng the demand. Run of hogs was surprisingly Rood over Sunday, Chore being a total ot 962 head received. This compares with none a week ago, 350 head ttvs same day In 1908. 82 head In 1007, and' none on the panic dnto In either 1805 or 1906. As shown by all recent transactions In the Stockdale market, hogs re main In the best demand for several years. Eight dollars and 10 cents Is still the price offered for best qual ity and former transactions Indicate that this price will be continued here for a while. Position Improves ut Year Start. As a usual rule, the position of the hog market here Improves around the turn of the year, and present Indica tions arc that this-season will be no exception to the rule. While better runs of hogs have been received here recently as compared with the nam? periods In recent years, still the de mand In former yea in was consider ably above the number of arrivals and at this time the call for swlno Is the greatest ever shown. Outside packers are buying more hogs In the Portland market at this time than ever before In the history of the local yards. They have always been in the market for hogs, but for merly receipts here were so nominal that they were compelled to go else where for their supplies large por tion of the time. Cattle- Supply Quito Liberal. In the cattlii market there w'is a very good run over Sunday, a totu! of 675 head being received compared with but 55 head last Monday, none , this day a year ago, 183 In 1007, a 75 lu 1106 and ISO head for the same day In 190D. Killers are eiiiiiplaining about the lack of good cattle, but because of the scarcity ff this cninlity they have been forced to p:y alues out of lino for the poorer stuff. No calves were received over Sun (iin imrket continues Us general firmness, with no change In prices. Bringing In More Sheep. Whllo the run of sheep livthe yards today was not quite up to that of a week ago, still the showing was some what better than the trade had ex pected. Continuance of weakness abroad, together with the loss In the cash premiums at home. forced a sharp decline in nearby wheat options today. Closing was e lower for December, 3-Rc for May and a gain of l-4c for the July option. Foreign markets were weak all day, and at all points a lower price was shown at the closing. Increasing wheat supplies at pri mary points have caused a further cut in the rremlurh being paid for cash wheat. A message from Kan sas City said that cash people there whose wheat Is shipped south and east, say the demand dropped away, in fact, this condition had prevailed for two weeks or more. Premiums are coming off and It is believed thru around 500.000 bushels will be deliv ered tho first of December. Oood ra ns In India Influenced '.ho markets abroad and forced the gen eral decline. Wheat on passage decreased 720. 000 bushels, corn decreased 382.000 bushels. Russian shipments from July 1 to date are wheat. 107, 16S, 000 bushels compared with 32.168, 000 bushels last year.
