Cate returned to her home In Gurdane from Pilot Rock a few days ago. She is said to be much improved. H. R. McBroom. the Gurdane mnil carrier. Is on the sick list. G. F. Jones has a crew of men working the roads In Gurdane at present. Daniel Jones, of Milton, sold his farm a short time ago at that place. He and his family will visit their children at Gurdane for a short time, and then they and their son, William, will start for California, where they will locate. There was reported to have been eight bands of sheep passed the Ridge school house last Thursday. Among them were the sheep of A. A. Cole and James Kinney. The others came from Butter creek. C. B. Wade, of Pendleton, purchas ed the herd of Herefords owned by John French, of Vinson, and moved them to his range near Alba. Fair prices were paid. L. Wach'.er Is hauling lumber from Alba for the Edwards Bros., who are constructing a large barn at their home ranch. MINERS TO CELEBRATE. Federation Day to Be Observed at j Granite on June 13. Granite Is to have a Federation Day June 13. when the Western Fed eration of .Miners Celebrate. This is the day held by the organization, and follows closely the national meeting which took place this year in Den ver, says the Blue .Mountain Ameri can. Details of the program that is to be carried out there have not been published, but it is stated by the Gem that drilling contests will ue reatures of Importance. The celebration Is to be held under the auspices of the Alamo Union. AH of the miners' unions or the en tire district are invited to participate. The Bourne News states that two or three teams are In practice there for the contest, and expect to carry off first honors. It is also learned that teams from Greenhorn. Alamo and Red Boy districts will enter with the purpose of winning. Phi Delta Thetas. Chapel Hill. N. C. June 2.
