Weston, April 28. Mr. and Mrs. J, R, Kilgore and Mrs. Mary J. Kilgore, returned yesterday from a week's visit in Portland. While there, Mr. Kilgore attended the dedication serv ices of the Odd Fellows' home, which took place on the 26th Inst. Rev. J. C. Thomas, presiding elder of the Spokane district of the E church. South, will lecture on the "Philosophy of Education," at the Methodist church in Weston, Thurs day evening of this week. Mrs. Elsie Kilgore narrowly escap ed a serious accident while leaving the train at this place yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Kilgore were in the rear car, and, as the train was longer than usual, this car did not reach the platform at the station, when the stop was made. For some reason the con ductor seemed to be in a hurry and started the train before Mrs. Kilgore had time to get off. She was thrown to the ground and only the prompt action of Mir. Kilgore preyented her from falling under the wheels. As it is, she received some bruises and a bad sprain of the left ankle. tor took occasion to chatochise the children of both schools, at first sep arately, and afterwards together, In the principal points of tho church catechism, eliciting responses that would have done credit to any child ren from any part of tho country. Long answers covering the great duties to God and to one's neighbor, as taught in that catechism, were given without a break, and with a promptness that showed careful and intelligent training. A plain and prac tical address was then made by Mr Chandler, tho secretary of tho Church Sunday School Institute of Oregon, after which an offering was taken and tho service closed by the singing of the recessional hymn, '"Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus." It was a unique sorvlco, such as is seldom seen in any part of tho coun try, and admittedly full of signifi cance and interest to tho large con gregation that filled the church to tho doors. Tho reverent behavior, the in telligent and earnest participation in tho responsive service, tho hearty singing of tho old missionary hymns, rendered with fine spirit and oxcclleut time, on the part of a company of children, more than half of whom were children that have been taken from the environment of tho Indian tepee within the past few years all this was an object lesson that will not soon bo lost upon those who woro present It was an earnest of hotter things and better times to come, when the value of Christian training and Chris tian education of the Indian as well as of the white child, will bo fully recognized A Nearly Fatal Runaway Started a horrible ulcer on tho -Kg of J. A service of unusual interest, and furnishing, In its way, an object les son of some value was held at the Church of tho Redeemer last Sunday morning. Soon after the ringing of the bell a procession of white-robed choristers appeared, coming from the parish house, and headed for the main entrance of the new phurch. Following the choir was a long pro cession of boys and girls belonging to the Sunday school, and these in turn were followed by Borne 80 more boys and girls from the government Indian school, In full uniform, accom panted by their superlptendent, Miss M". V. Gaither, and her assistant, Miss Hattle McDowell. The long proces sion entered the Church singing the familiar hymn, "Onward Christian Soldiers," the choristers, followed by the rector and C. H Chandler, of Portland, passing on Into the chancel. An Inspiring service, of a missionary character, in which the whole body of children took, a leading part, was then begun, In which hymns set to old familiar tunes ,sung with a heart iness that made the consecrated walls ring, were a conspicuous feat ure. D., a prom inent physician of LanBing, Michi gan, writes: "On three cases I have tested Herpicide for dandruff and the result has 'been all that could be de sired." t Hepricide is made upon an' entire ly new principle, that is, that dandruff and falling hair are caused from a microbe that infests the hair bulb, and, by destroying the microbe one's hair is bound to grow luxuriantly. Herpicide is the only hair remedy, that claims to, and really does destroy the dandruff germs. Have the Feathers In yonr feather beds RENOVATED By the 1902 STEAM PROCESS. No mixing of feathers.
