Au important bill relating to the sale of timber 011 the public lands was introduced in the house recently by the public land.- committee. The bill was framed by the general land olfice, says 1 he Portland Telegram, to meet the necessity created by a recent de cision of the assistant attorney-general for the interior department declaring thai existing laws do not authorize sales of timber on public lauds.
