The figures of gold production for (he .Vnlied States and for the world for the fiscal year which ia jus: closing show the United Sutes again in the firr. p.v sttlon among the gold producing countries of the world, with a product which reached upwards of 1118.000.04. This is more than double th? amount of gold ever produced in the United States for any single year In Its history pre vious to 1SSS. More than this, the pro duct of this country alone is more than the total amount produced In the en. Ire world, on the average of any pe riod of . five years previous to 1SS0. Slill further, it is greater than the en tire amount of both gold and silver. In coinage value, ever produced In the United States for any single year pre vious to 1S93. It is higher than the total commercial value of all the gold and silver produced n the United Stites In any previous year save IS??. It is also more than one-half the entire amount of gold produced In the entire world ta any year previous to 1S98. Th?re is something almost startling about these figures, which fully ex plain. In connection with the figures of the enormous expansion of the gold j product of Canada, why the shutting down of the mines in the Transvaal has slight, if any. Influence upn the money markets of the world. The Transvaal, which produced upwards of S:S,000.0OO in 1S9S. is credited in the fig ures of this year with a pr xluct of a trifle over VWm. Te; with this fall ing off in the Transvaal there is a le c'ine in the production 'if the whale world of but IM.OOO.Ooi) since DS"?. Th new goll fields of the UnitM Stite and of Canadi have mad? up fully $40,. WiO.OOO of the Transvaal deficit. The larger share If not all of this in crease in the United States and Cana da has been from the gold fields of the Alaskan peninsula, which are hardly more than in their first stage of de velopment, and which will continue to Dour their golden treasures into this country for many years to come; if. Indeed, their riches ever will be ex hausted. Judging from the figures compiled by the director of the mint, the gold pro duction for the next fiscal year will reach figures which will dwarf the wildest imaginings of a few years ago. The Tnneiaal mines will probably be in full operation again within a very brief period, and production there will speedily reach if not surpass the old j abiut to give up, I got a bvttle of Elec mark. Th TrWf of ,h. Alaskan i trie Bitters and. after taking it, I fit a-s - i peninsula wl certainly Increase not less than 30 per cent, and may go wry much higher. The wonderful Increase in the amount of gold annually produced, particularly in the United States, which it is able to keep all at home, if need be. should set at rest finally and for all time any lingering remnants of the superstition that the gold product of the world will ever be Insufficient to meet the commer cial demand for metallic currency, and that it will he necessary to resort to any Inferior and cheaper sutstance to 'Dyspepsia Cure Digests what you eat.
