An ordinance concerning the disposal of refuse and combust ible material, providing for the collection of the cost of such disposal, and providing a penalty for tho violation thereof. ;$ s THE CITY OF MARSHFIELD DOES ORDATN AS IOLLOnVS: Section 1. Accumulation of shavings, straw, sacks, hags, litter, weeds grass, and any oilier combust ihle waste or fragments in any yard, lot. or street, or upon any wharf, or upon any premises within the corporate limits of the City of Marshfield, is hereby declared to be a nuisance. Section 2. Lt is hereby made the duty of the Chief of the Fire Department of the City to frequently inspect all such places and premises, and to notify the owners, occupant, or agent of any lot, premises, or wharf uponwhich he finds any accumulation of such material to remove the same, which said notice shall be in writ inc. and shall bo delivered to the owner, occupant, or agent of said premises personally by said Fire Chief, or any of the police officers of the City, or any member of the fire department appointed by said iFire Chief for (hat purpose; or in case the said owner, occupant, or agent can not bo found upon or about said promises, by conspicuously posiing said notice in u conspicuous place on said lot or promises. Section ). Upon the failure of tho owner, occupant, or agent to remove such accu mulations or material from premises owned, occupied, or controlled by him, within forty eight hours after receipt or posting of tho notice above specified, the Chief of tho Fire Department may remove the same, or cause the same to be removed, or tho samo may bo removed by the Street cleaning department of tho City, and in any event the cost of such removal shall bo promptly reported to the City .Recorder, together with the complaint of the Chief of the .Fire Department against tho party or parties so failing to remove tho same. Section l. All owners, occupants, or agents of promises within tho City shall promptly remove all accumulations of .shavings, straw, bags, litter, weeds grass, or other combustible waste or fragments from such promises, and upon receipt of tho notico speci fied in Section 2, or upon the posting of the same as therein provided, shall within forty eight hours thereafter clear said premises of the material and accumulation specified in the notico, and each said owner, occupant, or agent, failure so to do within forty eight hours after the receipt or posting of such notico shall bo guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon proof thereof shall bo fined the costs of the removal of said material, together with an aditional sum of not less than $5.00 nor more than .$10.00 for each offense. .Passed by tho Common Council of tho City of Marshfield, this the 2Gth day of Jan uary 19M.
