A lady has tnought the matler out. and thinks tbo girl who selects a plain or even iiKly mate Is wise. The w'tc Kill, she anserls, la per fectly aware that the ui?ly man will mnke a far belief lumband than the Adonis who Is adored by every fom Inlnu beholder of his charms, 'lho iiKly man Is so frequently accustomed to beliiB lijnorc'i or slighted by the onipty-headed but Kooil-lookliit,' wom an that the sens.blo girl who Is sib o to see below the surface at once IIiuIh n faithful admlret'iiud grnteful slave. Compliments fiom tho plnln men are or far more value than tho easy flattery or the much Bought after linndsome malo, who Is seldom so s Ul cere through reason of opportunity nnd ndequnto practice. And not be ing so "run after." the man lacking In outward charms Is less likely to niUHo his wife Jealous pangs or feel Jnrs or lonellne'.i at lho sight or an oinpty chair nnd a torn dress tie. Ugly men who marry pretty women are alwnys far prouder of their wives than tho romantic llomeo or girlish dreams. The former feel grateful to tho beautiful wife, while the latter linnglno that the debt or honor Is on tho woman thoy have condescended to wed. All women are naturally at tracted to good looks, and the man who Is ralr to look upon Is more tempted to pose as a' bachelor If the cliiuico or a HUininer lllrtatlon arises than bis brother or homely physical fascinations. Plain men generally marry early In lire, as soon as funds will permit, wlillo the good-looking males prefer to enjoy the fun a little longer, anil to bask In the admiring glances and pleased smiles of tho mnldens upon whom they bestow their patronage. , 4 I ! Frnnso. v 4 What does the present season bring us that Is now ami good In furs? The question is an Important one to those who contemplate purchas ing, since the relatively large cost or fur garments makes Ibe question of style particularly Important. The fur buyer must be well informed us to the general tendencies of fashion, and be able to distinguish between the genuine novelty, des tined to be the coming mode, and the "freak" which may prove a Kousatlou early In the season but will be a sad disappointment a month hence. Many coals, especially In the bhorter lengths, are trimmed with a contrasting fur. Tho trimming is used in the new short collars which nro considered eiy smart, and wide, ulutllow cuffs. Pnssei. I'literle of all sorts and fancy buttons are conspicuous by their absence. Fur billions are seep on almost every coat and on many sets, Fur sets are conservative. Mod- oration at every point seems to be the accepted rule. Scarfs in the larg er and long-haired skins are niaile up In becoming natural animal effects which have been favored for many seasons, Wide shoulders are liked, nnd many scarfs are so ar ranged that they can be worn In several positions. M utTs show very little variation. They are large, but not exaggerated In size, and are mostly in the Hat models which seom to have won per manent favor. For the correct models In muffs nnd scarfs jo to M I A HlfVNtC A new shipment Is open for your luspectlon. 1 SEWING PARTY I Wednesday afternoon .Mrs, W. .1.
