Soresl of Fordham llnlverslty lias startled his .oiIIIoukuos by tho pub lication of resultB obtained from transfusion of living blood Into the veins of apparently moribund unlmalH and human beings. Dr. Soresl, who Is attached to the staff of the Flower hospital, lias been exporlinontliiK for five yours past. "In a recent experiment at Flowor hospital," Bitlil, Dr. Soresl, "I pumped alt the blood from a dog until the animal lay absolutely llreless. For fifteen minutes 1 allowed the animal to remain without a spark of life. Tho heart had stopped beating and every function of life had ceased. "1 connected the blood vobsoIh of the iIok with those of another iIok and permitted the blood to flow. In side of flvo minutes there wna a com plete return of life, and the dog soon was yelphiK I" an entirely normal way. Other experiments with c1ok have yielded i-osults u uuiiizIiik. "When the way has boon found to connect directly with the left side of tho heart, medical science will bo able to restore hiimnn IioIiikh to life after nil animation has been suspend ed, provided there Is no organic trou ble. Tho resuscitation will bo effec tive In cases of kiib or drug poison ings, hemorrhages and such diseases as typhoid fever and pneumonia. Sud den death by accident, when no vital organ tins been crippled, will full within tho scope of tho transfusion method. "An experiment with n pneumo nia patient was perhaps not as spec tacular ns those with nnlninls, but much more gratifying In result. This patient wnH entirely without respira tion from nil known tests applied, mid therefore, nctunlly moribund to all human knowledge. When 1 made a trnnsfiislon of blood from a nor mnl man through tho Jugular vein of the patient tho return to life was prompt and recovery followed In due course. "If such transfusions could bo tuado promptly the loss of life would be materially lowered." MASONS IN OltKOOV. New lodgoB A. F. & a.
