Lee Brown Returns From Session of Oregon Board of Pharmacy in Portland. T. Leo Drown of the Drown Drug Co., returned Saturday evening from Portland, where ho wns in attend ance at the regular meeting of the Oregon lionrd of pharmacy. The meeting wns one of the most Impor tant held In some time, as the fea tures of the new state pharmacy law, which went into effect Juno .'), wns thoroughly discussed and carefully considered by the board. The con census of opinion was that the new law was a good one and will prove beneficial to the public In checking tho sale of harmful drugs to a largo extent. "The main features of the now Pharmncy Law Hint concerns all tho people generally," said Mr. Drown, "are, briefly, thnt all purchasers of poisonous drugs such as carbolic acid, strychnine, arsenic, corrosive subli matc, antiseptic tablets containing corrosive sublimate, aconite, oxnllo acid, muriatic ncld. sulphlurlc acid, nitric acid, chloroform, potassium cyanide, etc.. must give a satisfactory stntcment to tho pharmacist as to the purpoBo for which the article Is to be used, and must sign his or her namo in tho poison register, giving such In formation and the date and hour of snle. Any person signing a fictitious name or mnklng any false represen tation to the seller when buying poi sons will bo subject to a fine or Im prisonment or both. "All narcotic or hnblt-formlng drugs, such as morphine, codeine, ' opium, Inudanum, cocaine and chlo ral hydrate can be sold on tho pro scription of n rogulnrly licensed phy sician or dentist of this fttnto only, which prescription cannot bo refilled, rtiuT lid copy or duplicate of same can be furnished by the pharmacist. (They may sold for veterinary uso and In liniments without n prescrip tion.) "Violators of this section of tho law aro subject to heavy fines or Im prisonment or both. "Tho Oregon Hoard of Pharmacy Is given power to cancel the certifi cate of any registered pharmacist who violates any section of t'he Pharmacy law, or when In the Judgment of tho Doard they have forfeited their title to registration."
