Do Hooch lived In Delft for two years, from 1055 to 1057, as tho record of his mar riage there and his membership In the painters' guild prove. From thnt tlmo until he turned up In Amster dam eleven years later there Is no trnco of him. Ho painted pictures In 1077, but nfter that all record of him Is lost, except thnt he died In Hnnrlem about 1081. Do Hooch was ono of tho kindliest and most charming painters of homely subjects thnt Holland hns produced. All his paintings thnt have survived nro nmnll. The only largo ennvns thnt ho over painted was destroyed In the fire of Rot 'crilnm In 1801.
