MILWAUKEE, Oct. 14.---CoIoneI Roosevelt was shot and slightly in jured tonight by a man who fired at him while the Colonel was resting at his hotel. The would-be assassin was captured by Henry F. Cochems. The Colonel declared he ;was not seriously injured and refused to let physicians examine the wound, the extent of which is unkown. With the bullet in his breast, Roose velt went to the Auditorium to make his address. At 9 o'clock the Colonel was very weak though still speaking. It is be lieved he will be forced to quit soon.
