Falkenstein Has Nar row Escape Sunday. Clare Falkonstcln, tho llttlo four-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Falkonstcln of North Pond hnd an almost miraculous escapo ironi death last evening when sho was struck by an auto driven by A. J. Mondol of Marshflold. As It was sho escaped with only a few minor bruises that will not seriously af fect her. Tho accident was a peculiar ono and totally unavoidable. Mr. Fal konstcln had tho family out for a rldo and had stopped to repair a punctured tire. Whllo ho was at work, tho children got out nnd woro playing around tho machine. A. T. Mendel camo along from tho oppos ite direction and slowed up and drovo closo to Mr. Falkonstcln's ma- clilno so that ho could tender his as sistance. Ho did not stop entirely, .Mr. Falkenstein assuring him that his services woro not needed. Just as ho started ahoad, tho llt tlo girl dodged out from behind tho Fnlkcnstoln auto and across tho street to got somo shells that had attracted her attention. Sho did not sco Mr. Mondol'B auto nnd nono of tho others could noo her until sho wns In tho path of tho machlno. Luckily tho machlno wns running lather slowly and It merely knocked her down, ono of tho lights striking her. The light wns broken but sho foil lcngthwlso under tho middlo of tho enr and tho auto passed over her, missing her body completely.
