Tho first motorcycle that ever trav eled over the roads of Curry county came up the coast to Coos Bay. Re garding It the Gold Beach Globe says: Bruso Bugenlng, a Eureka lad, came up the coast on a motorcylce, reaching this place yesterday evening about 8 o'clock, making the run from Crescent City In about eight hours. Mr. Bugenlng has gained tho dlstinc - tlon of being the first motorcyclist to and his machine caused no little ex- l cltement among the children here. Moulton and sister, Mrs. S. M. Nosier, returned last week from 1 an extended visit at Waterloo, Iowa, with their uncle and aunt, Jos. Bunn and Mrs. C. F. Green, who live in that city. "Sirs. H. II. Whipple of Douglas county, arrived here last week and Is enjoying a visit with her sister, Mrs. J. B. Fox. They went down the river Saturday and will visit at different points between here and Bandon. A grand farmers' picnic is being arranged to take place at the Arago Grove on August 6th. The Farmers' Union and Grange are joining in the efforts and a grand time is assured all who attend. Several good speak- ers will talk on subjects of Interest and importance to the people general- ly. CURRY COUNTY NOTES. News of the People of Gold Bench Taken From the Globe. Mrs. Maud Sowell has accepted a position at the Smith mill on Pistol River. E. L. Thomas commenced the har vest of the large hay field on the Bai ley place, for George Smith. Rev. Chapman preached an able sermon to an apreciatlve audience in the school house last Sunday evening. Sheriff Tyler and his little brother returned a few days ago from their visit In the northern part of the county. C. T. Walker was initiated into the mysteries of Woodcraft by the chop- pers of Camp No. C1C, at their last meeting. The new gasoline engine, in Elmer Miller's new boat, blew up the other day, but no damage was done to any- body or the boat. The annual teachers' institute of Curry county will bo held at Gold Reach, Monday, August 8th.
