The regular monthly meeting Is to be held Friday night. Bound Over. W. J. Robinson was bound over by Justice Pennock yes terday on the charge of extortion, preferred against him by his brother, J. R. Robinson. His bond was fixed at ?250 and was furnished by A. J. Savage of Marshfield. Big Ticket Sale The sale of tick ets for the Elks' Minstrels for Friday and Saturday nights Is going with a rush and there promises to be a crowded house each night. The re hearsals are coming nicely and Iron ical posters put out to-day have ex cited much Interest In it. , Elks' Birthday Party. Birthday Party No. 1, given by the Marshfield lodge of Elks at the Finnish Hall last een!ng, proved to bo one of the most brilliant and successful social func tions of the season. The hall was beautifully decorated with the Elks' colors, purple and white, and largo displays of roses and foliage added to the beauty of the scene. The annual race meet of tho Coos County Racing Association will open at the Marshfield Fair Grounds track to-morrow afternoon with one of the best- programs that has ever been pulled off on the local turf. Tho track i.t In line condition and some of tho best horsesr both harness and jump ers, are assembled lhat have ever par ticipated here. The entries In prac tically every race are closely matched. The attendance also promises to be a record breaker foMhe meet. Much Interest has been aroused throughout the county and a large number are coming from Bandon, Coquille and Myrtle Polnt( besides the large" turn out from the Bay side. The admis sion has been fixed at 50 and 25 cents. While tho races every day will bo good, to-morrow's card Is especially strong. The .racing starts at 2 P. JOHN TELLEFSON of East side left this morning for Bandon to meet her daughter, Miss Gene vieve, who will arrive on the steamer Elizabeth. REPRESENTATIVE MARSHALL of tho Weyerhauser Lumber Com pany, is in Marshfield looking after the company's big timber holdings in this section. WALTER WILLIAM SMITH, chief engineer of tho Edwin P. S. Aber nethy sawmill, located in tho fa mous Brewster Valley, reports a good business. MRS. SALU and son, from Los Banos, Cal., are visiting Coos Bay friends. Mrs. Salu was born here and Is a daughter of Mr. Miller, who super intended the butchering business for E. G. Flanagan some years ago, DR. and MRS.
