SPECIAL ROAD II SELECTED County Court Decides to En gage Special Roadmasters For Districts Instead of hiring a good roads en glneer lor the entire county, the Coos county commissioners at Coquille this week decided to engage special roadmasters only for those districts which have raised special tunds for Improving the roads. There was con siderable discussion about turning the road improvement over to one man until the commissioners are cer tain the have .a man capable of fil ing the job. The following special supervisors were named: Joe Larson for the Allegany dis trict, v. H. E. Wilcox for tho districts No. 11, 12, and 30 on the Coos Bay.. Wag on road known as Brewster and Fair view. E. H. Kern for districts No. 10 and 17 known as Coquille and Gravel Ford. II. H. Bronson for districts No. IS known as Bridge. John Mumford for District No. 25 known as Hall's Creek. R. P. Carmon for district No. 20, known as the South Fork. Bids were also ordered asked for the construction of the bridge across the South Fork of the Coquille. Tho cost of the structure is estimated at $8,000. The county court rejected offers to buy the county stone crusher and decided to operate the plant again this year themselves. Bay Schooner Ilniidou From Coos Picks up Barge. SAN FRANCISCO, April 15. Clinging to a half-submerged barge which was drifting through tho Gold en Gate, Robert Dakl, was reecued by tho schooner Bandon after three life-saving crows had failed to attach a line to tho boat. The barge broko loose from atug that was towing It down the bay and tho strong ebb tide carried It rapidly toward tho sea. The "rip" wis running so strong that tho life-saving crews could not reach the barge, but tho Bandon, which was entering tho gate, fastened a line to tho derelict and removed Dakl from his perilous position.
