A new complication has arisen In the sale of the $54,000 city bond Is sue by Marshfleld which may delay the securing of the funds for re deeming the outstanding warrants a few weeks. Woodln, McNear and Moore who secured the Issue and agreed to take the bonds and who in fact have had the Blank bonds print ed and sent hero havo attached a new condition which, according to the city officials' present understand ing of It, Is Impossible to meet. The condition Is said to be that the city treasurer return the cancelled warrants to the firm with the bonds signed up before the cash for them Is forthcoming. City Council Provides For Municipal Income Expen ses This Year. The Marshfleld city council last evening fixed the tax levy for munic ipal purposes next year at 11 mills. one mill higher than had been origin ally Intended. This is an increase of six mills over last year, but 1703. necessary to meet the current ex penses and make some necessary Im provements. With the fines, licen ses and taxes, the city will havo up wards of $33,000 to conduct Its af fairs. Tho levy was determined upon after going over a statement prepar ed by City Recorder Butler for tho past eleven months. It was found that ten mills might barely take caro of tho current expenses, but Councilman Nelson proposed that ono mill be levied to buy a lot and understand how he can get them and erect a building somewhere in tho - " - - CT , . , ... ...... Somo suggested that tho old city park or the site on Nob Hill be purchased for a city hall might be used for tho building, but It was claimed that neither of them was suitable. Mayor Straw suggested, that the' city buy four lots Instead of one and provide for future needs. Sometime within the next few weeks, the city levy will be divided among various funds so that tho ex penditure will not bo in any ono de parlment or for any one purpose. A, lighting fund, a street cleaning and. repair fund, etc., will probably bo created. City Recorder Butler explained, that the expenses .the past year had heena little large on account of three or four different purposes. The $7,500 for the B street lot, tho $1,200 for the expenses of the litiga tion, about $1,000 for fire hose, etc., about $500 for a street sweeper, etc.r Is Included.
