He says It will affoid Coos Bu Bpoits oue of the casslest events they have seen In many a day. Owing to Mr. Herron's Buccebs with previous bouts, his promise Is to be ieli-d upon. As a further guarantee, he has checks ptlnted on each tic' et entitling each man to his money back In case the bout falls. The bout Is to be for -wuity rounds at 150 pounds. P. L. Phoian of Myitlo Point, nvlll probably refe ree. A classy preliminary Is also bolus nriunged. Sax Is training at CoqulUe and has won manv backers in the Valley by his clever work. Arrangements have been made to run a special train here fiom CoqulUe for the bout. The special will leave CoqulUe about 7 o'clock In tho evening and will leave Mmshflold .on the teturu trlpshortly after midnight. It is expect ed that about two hundred will come over from the Valley. Dougherty Is training In the Athlotic Club's rooms over the postofflce. Every afternoon at 3 o'clock, tho quarters aro pretty well filled with onlookers to see him go through his stunts. Tickets for tho bout are now on sale at the Bell Cord saloon and tho reserved seat tickets aro going fast. PORTLAND AVANTS TRADE. . Portlands trade with Coos Bay doubled and trebled within a year nfter the steamer AUInnco began making regular trips, and It has; been steadily increasing since that time, two steamer now finding' profitable employment on the route ' Similar results would fo'low tho es tablishment of stoamshlp service be tween this port and Bandon. An oflfort Is now blong made to brw; tho i Jch country along the CoqulUe River Into direct communication with this city by means of n steam er line. The entire const region Is so rich in natural resources that the establishment of even an Imper fect transportation service is always fo lowed by lemarkable develop ment, This is a matter which should nnd undoubtedly will havo the united support of the Portlnnd business interest. The Myrtle Point Enterprise says: "Instead of lying over at this place for ten hours, the mall now lies over in Roseburg and not only tho bay mail but all the mall going out of the county, and that of Curry coun ty is affected. "Mail leaving hero at 11 o'clock in the morning, has 2C hours run ning time to Roseburg, which brings it in there at 1 o'clock the follow ing day. The first mall train to the north leaves at 11.20 p. m. Thus the north "bound mall is held at Ro seburg for more than ten hours. The south bound mall train leaves Roseburg at 5 In the morning, and the mall for San Francisco is there-" foro held for about 15 hours. Un der the old schedule when the stage left here at 8 in the evening, close connections were made with the north bound mail, while there were but a few hours delay with the south bound connections. Through this change not only is the bay mail held up, but the mall on every other route centering In Myrtle Point suf fers like delay. The ofilcials at Washington are evidently not cog nizant of the situation or they would not have made such an or der. The real remedy would have been to get the bay mail here to con nect with the evening stage. This would have given the bay tfie out going service desired and would not have held up the CoqulUe Valley and Curry county mall."
