Hiiy Tioga. It Is announced that Harvey Russell and Ernest Smith have purchased the Tioga from Tom Qoodalo and the others Interested with Mr. Goodale. Locates Here. Mr. Lackus and wife and son, James, arrived hero this week from Seattle and will make their home on the Bay. Mr. Lackus is a carpenter and contractor and his son Is a candy maker. Mr. Lackus is an old friend of Chas. Hunter. College Man Here. Prof David E. Lofgren, financial secretary of Coeur d'Alene college, the educational insti tution of the Lutheran Columbia conference, arrived here today for a week's stay In this institution. He is now doing field work for the col lege which has been making rapid progress and Is now ono of the lead ing educational Institutions of the northwest. Mrs. Sherwood of Sumner, is mak ing an extended visit at tho homo o Bert Peterson. . Paul Schlllerstrom Is here from northern Nevada to spend tho winter with his wife and daughter, Miss Goi-dle. It Is reported that Stanfleld Arnold and Ralph Oakley, formerly located In North Bend, nro now located in. The Dalles, Ore. Dr. R. G. Gale, who recently moved to Mcdford from North Bend, Is hero looking after business Interests. He wlll remain but a few days. Move to Empire. Mrs. Chas. Zeve- ly was over from Empire making preparations to move their household goods to that place. Mr. Zevoly Is teaching In that district and they will reside in Empire for some time. Simpson of North Bend, will bo one of tho principal members of tho editorial staff of tho Associated Chnrltles of San Francis co which will get out tho Thanksgiv ing Day issue of the San Francisco Examiner. Simpson that just as soon as tho at torneys satisfy them that the Men asha Woodenware Company's suit has been dropped, they will push the elevated plank roadway between Marshfield and North Bend to completion. To Start Brewery." The machinery for tho brewery which the Coos Bay Brewing Company will install In Its plant in Ferndnle, arrived here on the Czarina from San Francisco Sun day. An expert arrived here on tho Breakwater today to Install it, and it is hoped to havo the brewery In operation within a fow weeks. A soda water and pop department will be installed later. J. Virgil Pugh and wife leave this week for Los Angeles. Mr. Pugh ex pects to return here In about two months but Mrs. Pugh will remain there until spring. , Wood is being brought up from the C. A. Smith mill to run tho Gas nnd Electric Company's plnnt at Por ter. They have been unable to se cure sufficient from tho Porter mill to operate tho plant. F. Weyerman hns closed out tho O. K. Bakery and will leavo soon with his family for Spokane whero they will spend tho winter. In tho spring, they will move onto tho claim that Mr. Weyerman secured in tho recent land drawing there. I To Clear Flshway. Frank Smith, representlve of the Oregon Fishery department In this section, went to Coqilllle yesterday to investigate the charge that the flshway In the North Fork dam is closed. According to Iliiya Ranch. Vlnco Pratt has closed a deal for Joseph Richards' ranch on he county road about two and half miles from Coqullle. There is sixty-one acres of cleared land In the trnct and there are two good orchards on tho place. It Is under stood the purchase price was $5,000. Mr. Pratt's brother, Geo. E. Pratt, who will arrive hero In a few weoks with his family from. Kansas, will reside on tho place. J. S. Matthows, father of Mrs. W. P. Evans, nnd a former resident of North Bend, Is expected here thin week for a short visit. He and Mrs. Matthews -have been spending some timo nt Moscow, Ida., whero he has been closing out some property interests. A farewell was tendered Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Mooro last evening by their many friends hero. Mr. Mooro has given up his position with tho Simpson Lumber Company and leaves on tho M. F.
