Address all communications to COOS BAY DAILY TIMES, Ifosshflcld :: :: :: :: Oregon The C003 Bay Times represents a consolidation of the Dally Coast Mall and The Coos Bay Advertiser. The Coast Mall was the first daily estab lished on Coos Bay and The Coos Bay Times Is its Immediate successor. Official Paper of Coos County. BULLY FOR BANDON. B .ULLY FOR BANDON" this may be a trifle slangy but It aptly xpresses the sentiment of the people of Coos Bay and their appre ciation of the hustling, bustling, booming city-by-the-sea. ' The Ban don spirit Is one worthy of com mendation and emulation. When the matter of the Oregon-Idaho De velopment Congress came up before the Bandon Chamber of Commerce, they not only elected a large delega tion but raised $400 for entertain ment purposes and as an evidence of their earnestness. The sentiment of this meeting was that whatever helps Coos Bay, helps Coos County and whatever helps Coos County ihelps Coos Bay. That's the proper spirit. It's the spirit that builds cities and builds communities. There should be more such spirit on Coos Bay and more In Coos County. It Is the get together spirit that makes for progress and local uplift. Ban don has set us all a good example and better than precept Is her action. Coos Bay should reciprocate. Let us get together. SUMMER RASHES WASHED AWAY TIIE PEOPLE CAN BUILD RAILROADS c ONSTRUCTION WORK on the Falls City, Dallas & Western railroad has reached a point ivhero the whistle of the locomotive can be heard In Salem, and in a few days regular trains will be operated between the Polk county manufac turing city and the state capital. What the new line means to Salem and the Willamette valley can bo understood when It Is stated that the line referred to last year carried 50, 000 passengers between Dallas and Falls City and handled about 50, 000,000 feet of logs. The comple tion of this line will also admit the trains of the Independence, Dallas & Alrlle road to Salem. Thete aie great possibilities for development In this wonderfully rich portion of the Wlllnmotto valley, and the comple tion of theso shoit roads, which will act ns feeders to both steam and elec tric roads In and out of Portland and Salom, cannot fall to prove highly beneficing not alone to tho cities di rectly In touch with tho new lines, but to other parts of tho Willamette valley which will necessarily share In any benefits enjoyed by tho capital city or surrounding territory. Ore gonlan. Tho Gunrd has referred to the building of this road before, because It Is an object lesson of what may be accomplished by grit and determina tion. Mon of comparatively small means promoted and built tho Falls City, Dallas &. Western railway, with tho help of tho people who were sjen eflted by it. Nolther Harrlmnn nor Hill has any Intorest In It. Their plau of operations was similar to that now bolng pursued by the pro moters of tho Eugone & Stuslaw railway, who proposo to raise as much money as possible by. local stock subscriptions and then go ahead with construction work, Once a reasonable showing Is made they aro assured that outsldo money will be available to complete tho lino to tho coast. That such a road will pay divi dends thero is not tho slightest doubt. It will traverse a far richer country In natural resources aud the possibilities of development than tho Falls Clty-Salom road, which has been a dividend-payer from the time Yon can positively wash away all those Itching skin diseases which come up in Summer time.
