Adelsperger's Myrtle Point friends. In the evening a banquet was given at the Hotel Guerln In their honor, about twenty-five guests being pres ent. Don L. Greene had charge of the services and the courses were served with the regularity of clock work and without a hitch. Mrs. Guerln had charge of the table ar rangements and decorations, both of which were .neatly and effectively done. Dr, M. O. Stemmler presided as toast-master and several toasts -were responded to by the guests. A ilne menu was served and the ban quet lasted for about two and a half hours, proving very enjoyable j thrnnehout. Mr. and Mrs. Adels perger were the recipients of a num ber of handsome 'presents. Myrtle Point Enterprise. The W. C. T. U. Mothers, Club met Friday afternoon at the Meth odist Episcopal church with a good attendance. It proved one of the most interesting meetings yet held. Mrs. C. S. Walters, superintendent, opened the meeting followed by singing by all present of "The Tie that Binds," followed by opening prayer by Itev. J. C. Llnlnger of North Bend. Then scripture reading by Mrs. C. B. Walters followed by another song In which Mrs. Alva Doll acted as accompanist. The address was delivered by Rev. J. C. Llnlnger In which he dwelt upon the necessity of parents having and holding the confidence of their children until they have passed the critical period of womanhood and manhood. The address was full of excellent suggestions and very im pressive and instructive. At the conclusion of the address there was another song and a few appropriate remarks by the presi dent, Mrs. Fannie Wheeler, a short talk by the county president, Mrs. Itobort McCann of North Bend. The white Jasmine was adopted as the flower emblem of the Coos county union. The adoption of the flower brought out some suggestive jemarks on the reasons why all members should wear the white rib bon. Before adjournment a number of new names were added to the roster after which the closing prayer was given by Mrs. Robert McCann. ? Mrs. Levelle Nowby, formerly Miss Clinklnbeard, and daughters, Misses;, Laura and Levelle, arrived here from Roy, Wash., this week to visit at the' N, B. Piper home on North Coos River and with other" relatives In this section. They were accompani ed by Miss Alice Clinklnbeard, a teacher at Walla Walla, Wash., who will spend her vacation here. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Kronholmjl Joseph Tult and family, John, Wi'.l, Ed and Oscar Kronholm and J. B. Davis composed an outing party that enjoyed last Sunday at Charleston Bay. Mrs. Mary J. Harrison nnd her daughter, Mrs. E. A. Jobes of Port laud, are visiting at the C. S, Hil loni homo at Mllliconia. .Mrs. Jobes lias also been renewing a pleasant acquaintance with Mrs. I. S. Among those present were Misses Laura and Bertha Kruse, Grange, Mandlgo, Wernham and Clark and Messrs. Kruse, Coke, Mul len, Hull and Clark. Prentiss X. Gray and wife of San Francisco, who have been spending sometime on the Bay, will return Monday from Portland accompanied by Mrs. Gray's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Iloyt Sherman of Washington, D. C, to enjoy a few weeks' outing at Ten Mile. Wednesday evening, Western Star Rebekah Lodge No. 27 of Marsh- field enjoyed one of the most de lightful sessions it has held this year. The meeting was for the an nual public Installation of officers which was preceded by a degree work and following the ceremonies, a sumptuous banquet was served. Parsons of tho Alliance, en tertained a few friends at dinner on board ship here Monday evening, his guests being Prentiss N. Gray and wife, 'Miss Maude Painter, Mrs. Erne" Farringer and Roger Sherman. About thirty Coos Bay folks were members of a moonlight excursion to Enegren's grove Wednesday eve ning where a delightful dancing pro gram and picnic luncheon were en- Joyed. She may also visit other northern points beforo her re turn home. The Minno-W8 Whist Club met Thursday afternoon, July 20, at the homo of Mrs. A. J. Carlson on South Broadway. Tho house was prettily decorated with flowers of tho sea hon and ferns. Frizeen. m m The B. Y. P. U. was entertained at the C. J. Mlllls home Friday eve ning, July 23. At the business meeting. Oscar Lowry, who left for his old home at Bronson; Mich., re signed as president and Miss Mable Clare Mlllls was chosen to nil the vacancy. A pleasant social program fol owed, musical numbers being the features of it. Refreshments were served. Last Wednesday evening, a very- simple but pretty wedding was sol emnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Whlsnant In North Bend, the contracting parties being Miss Mary L. Whlsnant of Fort Shaw, Mont., and H. R. Robinson of Albuquerque, N. M., the Rev. J. R. Llnlnger offi ciating. The bride is a sister of Mr. Whlsnant and came here recently. The groom is supervisor of the Unit ed States Irrigation projects in New Mexico, Arizona and California. The Whlsnant home was prettily decor ated for the event and about twenty friends, the majority being former residents of the bride's old home In Wisconsin, were present. Thursday morning, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson left on a honeymoon trip to Seattle following which they will go to their new home In Albuquerque. Mrs. Marie Busse and Miss Busse of Chicago, mother and sister of Mrs. W. R. Haines ,and MJss Gertrude Ryan of Chicago are guests at the W. R. Haines home In this city. They will spend a couple of weeks on the Bay. Miss Elizabeth Kaufman Is expect ed home Thursday evening. She Is now In Seattle taking in the ex position after having visited at vari ous points en route from Brooklyn where she has been taking a domes tic science course the past year. Miss Maude Painter and Mrs. Farringer entertained a few friends at theli) home last evening, music and games making the event an un usually enjoyable one. Refresh ments were served. Among those present were Dorsey Kreitzer and wife, Wm. Lawlor and wife, E. W. Kammerer and wife, Miss Ramona Radcliffe, Miss Evelyn Mock, Roger Sherman and W. F. McKee. Friday was the birthday of Mrs. Eugene CrothwaIt and last evening, a number of friends surprised her at their home. Cards was the diver sion and refreshments were served. Among those present were, A. Mrs. Harry Tower and Mls Nora Tower returned on tho Breakwater Thursday from a summer visit in Portland and Scatt'e. Miss May Bennett, Miss Kathleen Bennett and Miss Genevieve Seng- stnckcn are planning to spend next week at the Sigma Chi Houseboat on South Coos River. Miss Hilda Stenholm, a Marsh- fleld teacher, left this week for San Francisco where she will visit a few weeks with Miss Maggie Erlckson who spent last summer on the Bay. :: Mrs. J. H. Those present were Frances Wll-, Hams, Ellen Rudnas, Mrs. Lucas, Irene and May Preuss, Aleda Thies, Uma and Isls Marsh, Evelyn Mock, Nina Kelly and Elvira Frizeen. , ' The summer vacation season of travel is resulting in a number of , enjoyable family reunions on Coos ' Bay. None was a more pleasant sur- j prise than the meeting of John A. I Walker of the Walker Studio, and his sister, Mrs. Henry Ayers of La Porte, Indiana, after a separation of i thirty years. Mrs. Aycr3 accompanl- j ed by her husband, arrived from ( Portland where sho visited another i brother after a sojourn at the Seat- J tie Fair. When brother and sister j last parted, Mrs. Ayers was a little j school girl and Mr. Walker had never met her husband until the pre sent visit. They will spend another weekon Coos Bay as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walker before starting on their homeward journey. They are enjoying excursion trips up Coos River and down to the beach, Mr. Walker desiring to impress them with -the fact that Coos Bay Is a more pleasant place to reside than Indiana. No definite plans have been made yet for the dedication of the hand some new home the Aerie Is build ing on South Second street. Supt. A.
