D. Pettyjohn, who " has been visiting friends and relatives at Salem and other Eastern Oregon points, is expected home In a few days. Miss Alda Cannon, who ac companied her north, will visit the Seattle exposition and friends In Portland and other points before re turning to Coos Bay next month. Mrs. F. E. Allen and Miss Ruth Allen left this week for a two months visit at various points In the northwest. Next Wednesday evening will be "Ladies' Night" at the Milllcoma Club and an unusually enjoyable event Is promised. The club rooms were recently overhauled and rear ranged to furnish better facilities for dancing which will be made the chief feature of these gatherings. Card tables and billiards and pool will furnish diversion for those not desiring to dance. The invitations for the affair were used for Tuesday evening, June 29, but owing to that night marking the Installation of the Elk's club here, It was decided today to postpone the event until Wednesday evening, June 30. - ! O'Connell and daughters are camping at the Maze on South Coos River. Mrs. Htllis Short and children are spending a few days at Ten Mile. At a pretty home wedding Wed nesday, June 22, at high noon, Mr. Claude Arthur Waters and Miss Mil lie Laura Talbot were united In marriage at the home of the groom near Lee, Rev. C. H. Barklow offi ciating. The ceremony took place In the orchard In the presence of 75 or 100 guests. The altar was arranged be tween four full fruited cherry trees. A festooned path strewn with roses led to the altar, the ceremony being performed beneath a wedding bell of white roses. The bride was at tended by Miss Margerie Lowe as bridesmaid and the groomsman was Clarance Waters, brother of the groom. Bernice and Eunice, twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. P. S. Robinson of Norway were flower girls and Mabel Brown daughter of Mr. and Mrsf L. E. Brown was ring bearer. Miss Zoe Haskins presided at the piano. Mr. and Mrs. Waters will make their home on- the groom's place at Lee. Myrtle Point Enterprise. Mrs. C. E. Nicholson has return ed from a few days visit with friends at Coqullle. Mrs. L. H. Hazard of Coqullle, has gone to California to bring home their son and daughter who have been visiting their grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. Hacker, near Pasa dena. i E. D. LaChance and wife will lenve today for Portland where they will spend some time. Mr. LaChance recently retired as one of the man agers of The Chandler. They have not decided just where they will lo cate and It Is possible that they will return to Coos Bay within a short time. J. W. Bennett Is host to a fishing party at Ten Mile this week. Among his guests are J. N. Teal and Dr. Minor of Portland, Mr. Meyers of New York and Tom Bennett. Mrs. S. Lando and Mrs. Fannie Hazard, who have been attending tho Eastern Star Grand Chapter at Portland and visiting at various northern points, Mrs. Lando taking In the fair at Seattle, will return on the Alliance Monday. and Anderson avenue in West Marsh- field. The Ladles' Art Club was enter tained by Mrs. F. W. Reeder at her home Friday afternoon. Conversa tion and needle work made the aft ernoon an unusually pleasant one. Delicate refreshments were served. This was the last meeting of the club until the first Friday In Sep tember. Miss Grace Starbird of Denver, who has been visiting Miss Gertrude Mandlgo of North Bend, left for her home this week. Last Friday even- j lng Miss Mandlgo entertained a few friends in her honor. Mr. and Mrs. T. B. James of North Bend, with Miss Cora Fleming of Portland, and Miss Lena Kruso as their guests, have been spending a few days af their summer cottage at Ten Mile this week. Mrs. C. W. Tower and Miss Nellie Tower, who have been spending sev eral months In Portland, are expect ed home about July 10. Prior to returning, they will take in the Seat tle exposition. Mrs. J. M. Upton and children are spending the summer months at the home of Judge Upton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Upton at Lan- glois. Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
