The Roseburg News says: "The" second o a series of elopements to occur In this city during the past few weeks occurred when Mrs. Vera Bartlette, wife of a local Southern Pacific engineer, and Dert Neely, em ployed as stage driver on the Rose-burg-Marshfield line, eloped from here taking the stage to Marshfield. At Ten Mile, Mrs. Bartlette wrote her husband stating that she had repented and wished to return. As yet her wishes have been Ignored, the husband feeling Inclined to allow her to paddle her own canoe. Use Alice Street. Alice street Is now open for traffic and is proving of great benefit owing to the bad condition of Broadway between C and Queen. While the north ap proach to the elevated roadway of Alice street is a little steep, It will not be long until 'D' street and the intersection is raised, to grade. Says Bill Passed. Representative R. E. L. Bedlllion has sent a note to the Marshfield Chamber of Com moioo announcing that the bill au thorizing the organization and In corporation of port commissions to Improve harbors and waterways In Oregon, passed the House all right. An emergency clause was attached, and it Is hoped that Governor Cham berlain will sign the bill Immediately so that lt may become a law at once. Breakwater Delayed. Agent W. F. Miller received another telegram this morning from Portland an nouncing that the damage to the Breakwater's rudder will not bo completely repaired until lato to morrow. Ivenno Company Disbands. The James Keane Company has disband ed, the local theatrical circuit being found inadequate to support such an organization as they had secured. .Saturday night "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" was presented to a fair sized audience at the Masonic Opera House and Mr. Keano showed up I well In the stellar role. Mr. John son, the new manager of the com pany, failed to respond to his call for his second entrance on the stage and a little mixup followed, which, however, was adjusted before there were any serious developments.
