Nairn Smith Will Ball. Tho Nann Smith will complete her cargo of lumber at the C. A. mlth mill and sail for Bay Point tomorrow. This vessel now takes on complete cargo at the Smith slip and does not do any lightering to finish load at Em pire as formerly, thus making a great saving In time and expense. Stephen Rogers Escapes. Stephen Rogers of tho steamer Coos River, had a narrow escape from a serious accident today. While loading freight, a large coil of wire, weighing nearly a ton, slipped and nearly caught the aged navigator beneath its weight with crushing force. As It was, ho escaped with a few slight bruises because of his agility in get ting out of tho way. Dr. Burroughs Injured. Dr. A. C. Burroughs Is not a member of the Association that Is "Afraid to go Home in the Dark" but ho aroso tho other morning before daylight and in piloting his way across tho kitchen floor, collided with tho door of tho kitchen range with such force as to crush tho bone In one of his legs. PATRICK FLANAGAN, concludes his holiday vacation at tho homo of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Flanagan this week and leaves Saturday to resume his studies at Columbia University, Portland.
