There seems to be a misunder standing as to the organization of tho chorus of several hundred to sing the Coos Bay marchinc sonc mid from central headquarters each room i other numbers durIng the Second -will be checked off as taken. People Southern Orocnn nistrint F.ii,. w are already coming forward listing their spare rooms and with this co operation of the people the commit tee expects to care for the crowds as well as a like number of people can be cared for by any town In Ore gon. The conimitte on entertainment is not complete yet, awaiting on North Bend to name a part of that commit tee. There is some doubt of Mr. Mc Cann, the contractor, having tho paving complete on 'C street in amplo time for the Fair, although he has given assurance it would be. This street promises to be the sceno of much merriment during Fair week if it Is thrown open to the public, paved as Front street is being paved. Mr. Haines contemplates haviiiK on hand a pneumatic music box for tho August 2G to 29. It is the intention to have every school child on Coos Bay who has any vocal ability to par ticipate in this under the direction of Prof. Elmer A. Todd. A number of grown up people are also desired to help lead the younger ones. It Is impossible to extend a personal in vitation to all but it is earnestly re quested that everyone who can sing and who can spare the time join. These are requested to call up Prof. Todd by phone or see him person ally. All members of the chorus will ba given free admission to the Fair. Use The Coos Bay Times Want Ads Distinguishing Purs Linen From Counterfeit Is Easy. Of the goods sold as "all wool" there is not one-tenth that Is genuiue. Gen erally the main component is cotton. The test for this is simple. All that Is necessary Is to pull out a few threads and apply a lighted match. Cotton will go off in a blaze; wool will shrivel up. To distinguish pure linen from coun terfeit Is even easier. The lutended buyer need but wet her finger and ap ply It to tho goods. If they are pure linen, the moisture will pass straight through; the spot touched will be soak ed at once, and almost Immediately one side will be as wet as the other. Frauds are more numerous lu silk than In any other fabric, but here also the mnterlal of adulteration is cotton. Its presence can readily be discovered. Draw n few threads out. The pieces of cotton will snnp off short when pulled, while the silk will stretch nnd permit a considerable pull before breaking. The boasted silk of our grandmothers that "stood by Itself" is not necessarily the best Modern Ingenuity hns devised means of giving the poorest article the body requisite for this purpose. Shellac and other sticky substances mixed through the fabric will produce as stiff a silk as ever graced the ward robe of our ancestors. Such stuff la quite worthless, however, as it quickly rots. :: THE :-----::-- HJ3EIE7E2HCH3EE2EJ ::--- --::-::-::-::- FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF COOS BAY 0. B.
