PARIS, July 23. From the town of Appenzell, in Switzerland, comes a curious story of a father who court ed hia own daughter. In 1SST, a kindly butcher at Lucerne adopted a little girl named Anna, whose mother had died just after being deserted by her husband. She was a baby of 6 months at the time. He gave her his own name, and she received a good education. The butcher prospered, and some eighteen months ago bought a large hotel at Appenzell. Anna, now a handsome, Intelligent girl, managed the establishment for him. Last May Joseph Muller, who had made a large fortune In America, arrived at the hotel. A youfig local doctor of good family and the elderly Joseph Muller became suitors for An na's hand, and in July last the girl chose the latter. The marriage was fixed for the end of December, but the day before the wedding, Muller, seeing his fian cee wearing some jewelry which seemed familiar to him, questioned her about it. Next day he left for Berlin, and sent a letter explaining that beyond doubt she was his own cnua, aesertea so many years ago, and advising her to marry the young doctor. He enclosed a check for $40, 000 in the letter. This week the girl was married to the doctor, but she has not heard of her father since his flight. They are Edward Bleiweis and his bride, formerly Miss Ernestine Taus sig; Ludwig Herman, his bride nee Miss Helen Seuer, a school teacher, and Daniel -Gerson "anil bride, nee Miss Rae Adelson, a stenographer. The triple elopement was the cul mination of a theatre party and a supper in a Cleveland grillroom. During the evening marriage was discussed. "Wouldn't it be fun to be married tonight?" said Herman. "Let's do it," suggested Gerson. "I dare you," said Herman, ad dressing the young ladles. The latter, it is said, refused to take a. dare, and In less than a min ute the party was -whirling away In an automobile to the home of Frank Zizelman, probate court license clerk. It -was 1 o'clock in the morn ing when Gerson alighted from the machine and rang the door bell. "What's the matter?" said Zizel man, poking his head out of the win dow. "We want to get married," said Gerson, bashfully. Zizelman is an agreeable chap, and in Ave minutes he was loaded into the machine, headed for the court house. At the court-house Deputy Steuer patrolled the jail corridors, uncon clous of tho fact that his daughter was scurrying away in tho machine to Rabbi Morgalies's home.
