McClelland Will Investigate Possible Trade Relations With That Continent. A. McClelland, president of the McClelland Investment Company of this city but a resident of Pueblo, Colo., will address the citizens of Marshfleld at the Chamber of Com merce meeting Friday night. Mr. McClelland is on his way to Austra lia and after making observations in that country will bo asked to give the people of Coos Bay the benefit of the knowledge gained, upon hlB re turn. Australia promises to be a fu ture foreign field of commerce for this port and his trip is looked upon as a kind of official function in be half of more extensive trade relations between the two countries. Coos Bay shipped 10,000 boxes of her fine Gravensteln apples to Australia last fall and there doubtless will bo de mand for more from the same quar ters the coming season. B. D. Cridge of Portland, an en thusiast for a railroad Into central Oregon and southern Idaho, will also speak on the importance of the South and Central Idaho and South and Central Oregon Development Congress. DISCRIMINATION IN BUILDING MATERIAL Local Dealers Claim That the Speci fications for the New High School Are Unfair. Local building material dealers are complaining that the specifica tion for the now High School build ing are drawn so that nothing but brands of each kind of material that aro controlled in Portland can bo used, In fact San Francisco which to day is the choapest market for this class of goods on tho coaBt Is com pletely cut out In favor of high priced brands from tho north. According to rumors afloat, Chas. P. Doe and Company of San Fran cisco, are figuring on transferring the steamship Eureka from the Eureka-Coos Bay-Portland run. Local transportation men do not place much confidence In the report. Tho Eureka arrived In this morn ing from Eureka and will sail at 8 o'clock tomorrow forenoon from North Bend for Portland. Captain Noren is off the run for a while to receive medical treatment for his eye which has been troubling him for some time. Captain Black has charge of tho Eureka meanwhile. This was Captain Black's first trip up the Bay and he made It without a pilot, something that few captains have over attempted. Captain Black made tho trip with the sole guidance of a chart and did not run aground. Nome City Sails. Tho Nome City sailed late yester day afternoon for Portland with a fair sized passenger list and freight cargo. Captain Olson of tho Al liance, Is noting as pilot. APRICOTS BY CARLOAD FOR COOS BAY PEOPLE Steamer Plant Will Bring Lnrgc Shipment of Delicious California Fruit. F. S. Dow informes The Times' reporter that on the arrival of the steamer Plant, the public will be able to buy apricots through their local dealers at a price never before touched In Marshfleld. The crop In California Is unusually large and Mr. Dow received advices today that the Plant would bring a straight car load of Royal Cots direct from a ranch In Sonoma county. In order to move this large shipment the price to the housewife will be lowered fully 75 per cent. New Members Chosen. W. R. Haines and J. D. After the vote, Messrs. Durett and Douglas thanked the council and started to leave the room. Mayor Straw objected to their hurried de parture, declaring that it was cus tomary for the recipients of fran chises or favors at the hands of the council to take the members out after the meeting and entertain them to a little banquet or otherwise. Messrs. Durett and Douglas con sented to this and took the city offi cials In tow after the meeting. MRS. YOAKAM, the Coos county dairy inspector, was down from her Coos River ranch today.
